Abstract

The present invention relates to a multilayer laminate comprising at least three layers, wherein the two outer layers are each nonwoven backing sheet (7) containing a crystalline silicate mineral powder impregnated with a coating of an impregnating resin based on acrylate derivatives, which is suitable for increasing the compactness of the insulating sheet and for preventing the silicate mineral powder from detaching from the aramid fiber during use; the multilayer laminate having an inner layer being free of crystalline silicate mineral powder that comprises either i) heat resistant floc and binder, or ii) heat resistant polymeric film. The impregnating resin also comprises an organic solvent, which is capable of reducing the viscosity thereof and of promoting its deep penetration into the sheet. In addition, the impregnating resin comprises a UV polymerization photoinitiator which is suitable for curing the resin, only after said resin has been applied to the sheet and has penetrated deeply therein. The invention also describes the method for impregnating the insulating sheets.

Abstract

A filtration element (1) comprises a filtration membrane (3) enclosed in a housing (2). The element has openings for removing filtrate and concentrate. A filter (11) is positioned within the element (1), at an opening 6 in the housing (2), for introducing feed into the interior volume (20) of the filtration element (11). Alternatively, the filter (11) may be positioned within an end cap (7) associated with such an opening. Accordingly, prefiltration takes place within the filtration element 1 itself, rather than in a separate upstream operation. The presence of the filter (11) does not produce a significant increase in pressure drop across the filtration module. Agglomerated particles and other debris that accumulate on the membrane can be removed easily by backwashing, despite the presence of the filter (11).

Abstract

Gaps between adjacent members in a building construction are sealed by applying a self-adhering barrier sheet to the adjacent members to span the gap. The self-adhering barrier sheet includes a flexible sheet of a barrier material. The flexible sheet has opposing edges, of which at least one is tapered. A pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to at least a portion of at least one major surface of the flexible sheet. The edges of the self-adhering barrier sheet are adhered to the adjacent structural elements by means of the pressure sensitive adhesive. The pressure sensitive adhesive has a thickness equal to or less than the maximum thickness of the flexible sheet. Where two self adhering barrier sheets overlap at an angle on a substrate, the tapered edge of the underlying sheet allows a smooth transition for the overlapping sheet, preventing the formation of an open gap between the barrier sheets and the substrate where air and moisture can penetrate.

Abstract

Electrical circuitry is produced on the surface of an organic polymer. The electrical circuitry 2 is produced on a support 11, and a polymerizable composition 30A is brought into contact with the support and the circuitry. The polymerizable composition is polymerized while in contact with support and the circuitry to produce a solid, organic polymer 30. The electrical circuitry 2 becomes adhered to and partially embedded in a surface of the solid organic polymer 30. The support may be removed subsequent to the polymerization step to expose the circuitry at the surface of the solid organic polymer.
