Abstract

Process for producing a pyrolysis oil comprising liquid hydrocarbons from plastic material, preferably waste material. The process is characterized by the use of an energy source preferably of an intermittent nature (and of variable intensity), such as for example solar radiation. The plastic material enters a pyrolysis reactor, heated with a molten salt thermal fluid. Said molten salts are heated by said intermittent source to a temperature that is not fixed but variable within a predetermined range. In particular, when the availability of the energy source is equal to or beyond a predetermined maximum value, the temperature of said molten salts is brought to the upper end of said range. Conversely, when the availability of the energy source is equal to or lower than a predetermined minimum value, the temperature of said molten salts is brought to the lower end of said range. For intermediate availability values, the temperature can also be brought to intermediate values, for example by following a linear profile. The pyrolysis temperature follows the temperature of the molten salts. The pyrolysis pressure, on the other hand, is modulated so that it is higher (at least 2.5 bara) when the pyrolysis temperature is lower and lower (no more than 2 bara) when the pyrolysis temperature is higher. Surprisingly, it has been discovered that by operating in the specified way, the quality of the pyrolysis oil obtained is kept constant, even for significant variations in the pyrolysis temperature.

Abstract

Process for producing a pyrolysis oil which comprises liquid hydrocarbons from plastic material, preferably waste material, sustainably. The process is characterized by the use of solar radiation which is used to heat a heat transfer fluid (like molten salts) at multiple temperature levels, so as to use the hotter heat transfer fluid to the pyrolysis devices that require higher temperature. The heat transfer fluid returning from said devices is sent back to the respective solar radiation heaters, thus closing the loops. The process is therefore characterized by having at least two loops of the heat transfer fluid. The plastic material enters a first pyrolysis reactor, heated with a first thermal fluid with molten salts at a moderate temperature, and the gases produced are brought into a second pyrolysis reactor also heated with a second thermal fluid with molten salts, to higher temperature. The particular setup of the process and of the relative plant, which synergistically exploits some specific characteristics of the pyrolysis process and of the solar collectors, allows to obtain a high exergetic efficiency. In particular, the fact that the pyrolysis according to the invention is carried out in two stages is exploited: in a first stage a high amount of energy is required, but at a moderate temperature. Only in the second stage is a high temperature energy source required, which requires a high concentration factor; however, due to the way the pyrolysis process was conceived, the amount of energy required at this stage is minor. This allows to maximize the yield of the process in terms of product obtained (quantity of pyrolysis oil per solar radiation power).

Abstract

A barrier assembly used in the protection of personnel at worksites and/or residential areas from escapes of gas. Such a barrier assembly controls the lateral and vertical spread of gas in the event of an escape of the gas, even more particularly toxic gas. The barrier assembly can be used at operating sites where gases are produced, and, in particular, where high concentrations of toxic gases like CO2, H2S, SO2, and mercaptans are present. The barrier assembly can also act as a safety system in the event of an accidental uncontrolled release of these toxic gases into the atmosphere.

Abstract

A process and system for applying a liner to an inner surface of a pipeline uses an “inversion” technique to apply the liner. This involves arranging the liner into everted and non-everted portions and driving the non-everted portion through the pipeline such that it everts and is applied to the inner surface of the pipeline. At least first and second pipeline vehicles are used to drive the non-everted portion of the liner through the pipeline.

Abstract

Dunaliellasalina122) purified produced water. Said process makes it possible to obtain produced water deriving from hydrocarbon extraction wells, in particular produced water deriving from hydrocarbon extraction wells having a lower content of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), which can be directly discharged into the environment without the need for further treatment or used for other purposes [for example, re-injection into said wells for further hydrocarbon recovery known as "EOR"("Enhanced Oil Recovery")]. In addition, said process makes it possible to obtain an increased algal biomass, thanks to the use of hydrocarbons in the produced water, which can advantageously be used for the production of bio-oil.

Abstract

An advanced service station system includes a service station with a forecourt area having a forecourt terminal associated with a memory unit and dispenser. The forecourt terminal sends control signals to the dispenser and receives an actual datum that detects a quantity of fuel dispensed, the datum being stored in the memory unit and used to generate a local metrological certificate of the quantity of fuel dispensed. The system includes a remote management centre with a central control module (with a central memory unit) that receives a signal having received data stored in the memory unit, the received data having the datum and data correlated to the datum and dispenser; and stores the received data in the central memory unit and processes the received data to generate a remote metrological certificate, which compared with the local metrological certificate allows to generate a remote metrological certificate of quantity of fuel dispensed.

Abstract

The present invention relates to an integrated process for the simultaneous production of polyunsaturated fatty acids, in particular in the form of esters, and of esters of palmitic acid from algae. The compounds of the present invention can be used in the pharmaceutical industry (products for the prevention of cardio-circulatory problems) and in the cosmetic industry (emollients and moisturizers). In particular, the present invention is directed to a process for obtaining eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) esters from algal material, comprising the steps of: a) treating the algal material with an extraction solvent to give a liquid phase containing said solvent and algal oil and a solid phase comprising cellulose, sugars and proteins; b) separating the solid phase from the liquid phase of step a); c) separating the algal oil from the extraction solvent in the liquid phase of step b); d) subjecting the algal oil of step c) to a low-temperature treatment so as to obtain the precipitation of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acid triglycerides and a liquid phase containing or consisting of polyunsaturated fatty acid triglycerides; e1) separating, isolating and purifying DHA and EPA triglycerides from the liquid phase of step d), or e2) transesterification with ethanol of DHA and EPA triglycerides and isolating the respective DHA and EPA ethyl esters; f) optionally, isolating and purifying the palmitic acid triglyceride from the phase containing the saturated and monounsaturated fatty acid triglycerides of step d); g) optionally, transesterification of the palmitic acid triglyceride of step f) with a linear or branched C1-C4 alcohol, to give a C1-C4 alkyl ester of the palmitic acid and glycerol; h) optionally, hydrogenating the glycerol of step g) to give isopropanol.
