It is provided a process for the preparation of a polymer from a vinyl halide monomer (monomer A) and a monomer B that contains only one ethylenic double bond by free radical polymerization in aqueous medium, wherein the monomer B is present in the polymer in an amount of up to 25 wt% of the total monomers in the polymer.
