Abstract

The invention discloses a material for packaging foods (10) comprising a first layer (11) made of paper, which Is coupled to a second layer (12) made of polyethylene or from biodegradable end compostable plastic material, an optional third metallic layer (13) deposited on said second layer (12), said second layer (12) Is coupled to said first layer (11) by interposition of an adhesive layer (14), or by interposition between said third metallic layer (13) and said first layer of paper (11), characterised in that on said second layer (12) on the surface (24) facing towards or in contact with the food there la a natural extract or an essential oil or at least one active molecule isolated from said natural extract or said essential oil from Rosmarinus officinalis or Citrus limon or Vitis vinifera or mixtures thereof. Said material is particularly suitable for packaging a fresh food of animal origin, such as meat or fish. It also discloses a process for producing said material and He use, together with a general method for inhibiting the development of biogenic amine in a said fresh food.
