A cleaning system for cleaning the interior of an industrial food mixing bowl of for example a dough mixer comprises a cleaning lance with a spray nozzle assembly at an end of the lance, an actuator operable to reciprocally insert and retract the lance into or out of a food mixer bowl, and a pump operable to deliver cleaning fluid under pressure over a conduit to the lance and spray nozzle assembly.
