Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for producing a raw material for a fertilizer, the method being characterized by subjecting glass to ion exchange using a molten salt containing potassium nitrate, cooling and solidifying the molten salt, and obtaining a salt containing potassium nitrate. The present invention also relates to a raw material for a fertilizer, which comprises a plurality of blocks. The raw material for a fertilizer is characterized in that: the proportion of water-soluble potassium is 40 wt% or more relative to the raw material for a fertilizer; the proportion of nitrate nitrogen is 11 wt% or more relative to the total amount of the raw material for a fertilizer; and when two blocks, each having a mass of 50-150 g, are sampled per 10 kg of the raw material for a fertilizer, the difference in the concentration of water-soluble potassium between the two blocks is 6.0 wt% or less and the difference in the concentration of nitrate nitrogen between the two blocks is 1.9 wt% or less.

Abstract

Provided is a novel immune balance adjustment agent for adjusting the immune balance of an organism. This immune balance adjustment agent is one which: contains a euglena-derived substance; and adjusts the Th1/Th2/Th17 immune balance, which is the balance of immune responses derived from Th1, Th2 and Th17 in the organism. The immune balance adjustment agent is used to improve physical constitutions in which the Th1/Th2/Th17 immune balance leans toward Th2, and in the prevention or treatment of diseases to which a lean toward Th2 in the Th1/Th2/Th17 immune balance contributes, by adjusting the Th1/Th2/Th17 immune balance in a manner such that the immune response derived from Th1 is adjusted in a relatively superior direction relative to the immune responses derived from Th2 or Th17. This agent is to be administered prior to the period during which the onset of a disease to which a lean toward Th2 in the Th1/Th2/Th17 immune balance contributes is predicted.

Abstract

The present invention provides an allergy inhibitor using the efficacy of amorphous paramylon which is a substance obtained by changing the crystalline structure of paramylon. The present invention relates to a substance for inhibiting allergic diseases. Amorphous paramylon of the present invention is an allergy inhibitor comprising amorphous paramylon which is obtained by amorphosizing crystalline paramylon derived from Euglena, and has a relative crystallinity of 20% or lower to the crystallinity of crystalline paramylon, determined by an X-ray diffractometry. This allergy inhibitor enables efficacious inhibition of allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, pollinosis, and the like.

Abstract

[Problem] To provide: a process for producing euglena containing a wax ester at a high content, by culturing a microalga euglena aerobically by photosynthesis using carbon dioxide as a carbon source, further culturing the microalga euglena under nitrogen-starved conditions to increase the amount of accumulated paramylon per cell, and subsequently leaving the microalga euglena under anaerobic conditions, thereby producing euglena containing a wax ester at a high content; and a process for producing a wax ester. [Solution] The invention relates to a process for producing euglena containing a wax ester at a high content. The process comprises a first step of culturing a microalga euglena aerobically, a second step of further culturing the microalga euglena while retaining the culture medium under nitrogen-starved conditions, and a third step of retaining cells of the microalga euglena under anaerobic conditions.

Abstract

Disclosed are a series of processes for producing a biofuel, which include a technique wherein carbon dioxide serving as a carbon source is converted into a biomass by photosynthesis by photosynthetic microorganisms and the production of a biofuel is carried out after that. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a biofuel, which is characterized by comprising: a culture step (S1) wherein photosynthetic microorganisms that accumulate a fat or oil and a carbohydrate in the cells thereof are cultured in a broth; a fat or oil conversion step (S2) wherein the carbohydrate accumulated in the cells of the photosynthetic microorganisms, which have been cultured in the broth, is converted into a fat or oil; an extraction step (S3) wherein the oil or fat is extracted from the cells of the photosynthetic microorganisms; and a modification step (S4) wherein the extracted fat or oil is modified.
