A fin that includes a flared fin body and a strap feature that is configured to wrap around a residual limb or an amputee thereby allowing the amputee to fin kick in an aquatic environment with the fin attached to the residual limb. The strap feature is preferably perpendicular to the elongated direction of the flared fin body and can include multiple band structures along with any number or release mechanisms. The back portion of the fin is open and void of obstruction allowing the residual limb of the amputee to be inserted under the strap feature and with the flared fin body cupping the residual limb.

A composite fabric that hydrophobic, durable, stretchable, breathable and elastic for aquatic environment includes a synthetic woven fabric with an integrated discontinuous layer or patterned layer of melted polyurethane. The integrated discontinuous layer or patterned layer of melted polyurethane is preferably formed by heat pressing a pattern into sheets of polyurethane that are in contact with sheets of the synthetic woven fabric to form a composite layered structure that is then cured in a heat stabilization process.

A protective head-gear apparatus and a method for making the same is disclosed. The protective head-gear apparatus is buoyant and includes a cap and ear-guard that covers a user's ears while wearing the cap. The ear-guards include pads of cushions that are formed from a buoyant material and which are vented to allow water to pass through the ear-guard elements and allow the user to hear wearing the protective head-gear apparatus. In further embodiments of the invention, the ear-guards include outer shells or covers that are also vented. The ear-guard elements are permanently attached to the cap or alternatively are configured to detachably couple to the cap through an attachment mechanism.
The present invention is directed to an arm-brace for improving the efficiency of a swimmer's stroke. In accordance with the embodiments of the invention, the arm brace includes a first closed loop and a second closed loop that together form a figure-eight configuration. The first closed loop and the second closed loop are preferably at an angle with respect to each other such that the swimmer's hand is positionable through a portion of the first closed loop and the swimmer's forearm is positionable through the second closed loop. The arm brace is configured to control an angle between the swimmer's elbow and wrist in order to promote early vertical forearm positioning as the swimmer's arm moves through a catch phase of a swimming stroke.

The present invention is directed to a kickboard. The kickboard includes a wedge-shaped flotation body with a top surface and a bottom surface. The kickboard preferably includes an adjustable strap feature for positioning a swimmer's hands in a flattened position while swimming with the kickboard in a forward position. The top surface preferably includes depression features for fitting or cradling against the swimmer's arms with the swimmer's arms outstretched. Preferably, the kickboard includes one or more fins protruding from the bottom surface of the wedge-shaped flotation body and the bottom surface includes one or more contoured channels to further stabilize the kickboard while swimming with the kickboard in the forward position.
