Abstract

A radiation curable putty composition and a method for repairing a defect in a substrate with such composition are provided. The radiation curable putty composition comprises about 6-50 wt % of a UV curable oligomer, about 4-25 wt % of a non-reactive oligomer, about 5-30 wt % of a UV reactive monomer, an extender, about 3-10 wt % of fumed silica, a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid amide, and about 3-6 wt % of photoinitiators, said photoinitiators comprising a surface-cure photoinitiator and a through-cure photoinitiator, and wherein the putty composition has a solids content of about 99 wt % or greater.

The zinc salt of DMTD was shown to have a synergistic effect on reinforcement of barrier properties of a protective layer that is formed in a coating defect due to the presence of the lithium salt. In addition, the coating composition has an improved pot life.

The invention relates to a one-component moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive composition comprising an isocyanate-functional prepolymer obtainable by reacting: (a) one or more polyisocyanates comprising methyl diphenyl diisocyanate; and (b) a polyol mixture comprising (b1) a linear butylene oxide-based diol with two primary hydroxyl groups; and (b2) a polyether triol with three secondary hydroxyl groups wherein in the range of from 55 to 75% of the hydroxyl groups in polyol mixture (b) are hydroxyl groups from butylene oxide-based diol (b1) wherein the equivalent ratio between isocyanate groups in (a) and hydroxyl groups in (b) is in the range of from 3.5 to 7.0, wherein the content of free isocyanate groups in the adhesive composition is in the range of from 14 to 17 wt %. The invention further relates to a method of bonding a first piece of material to a second piece of material using such adhesive composition and to an object comprising a first piece of material and a second piece of material bonded with such adhesive composition, in particular a structural wood product.

Abstract

The invention relates to a coating composition comprising a binder component and a curing component. The binder component comprises an epoxy resin, and the curing component comprises a cycloaliphatic amine and an aromatic Mannich base curing agent. The cycloaliphatic amine and the aromatic Mannich base curing agent each have either a primary amine group, a secondary amine group or both. The weight ratio of the aromatic Mannich base curing agent to cycloaliphatic amine curing agent is in the range of from 0.01 : 1.00 to 1.70 : 1.00. In addition, the aromatic Mannich base curing agent is derived from an aldehyde, a phenolic compound and an amine comprising at least one aromatic ring. Further, the proportion of cycloaliphatic amine(s) and aromatic Mannich base(s) is 70 wt% or more based on the total amount of curing agents.

The present disclosure describes a low gloss polyurethane one component powder coating composition comprising 90 to 100 wt % of a resin system comprising a thermosetting resin, an isocyanate curing agent for reacting with the thermosetting resin, and a polycarbonate diol, wherein: the thermosetting resin comprises a first hydroxyl functional polyester resin (i) having a hydroxyl value of between 200 and 250 mgKOH/g and a second hydroxyl functional polyester resin (ii) having a hydroxyl value of between 20 and 40 mgKOH/g, the weight ratio of (i):(ii) ranges from 15:85 to 35:65, the isocyanate curing agent comprises at least one unblocked uretdione curing agent, the ratio of isocyanate groups of the curing agent to hydroxyl group of the thermosetting ranges between 0.8 to 1.2, and the total weight % of the polycarbonate diol in the coating composition ranges from 1 to 10 wt % based on the total weight of the coating composition.
