The invention relates to an aqueous polymer dispersion comprising an anionic water-soluble dispersion polymer comprising in polymerized form a monomer mixture comprising (i) one or more anionic monomers, (ii) a first non-ionic vinyl monomer which is acrylamide, and (iii) at least one second non-ionic vinyl monomer; a water-soluble salt and a stabilizer, wherein the water soluble salt is present in an amount of at least 2.0 % by weight, based on the total weight of the dispersion. The invention further relates to a process for producing the aqueous polymer dispersion, use of the aqueous polymer dispersion as a flocculating agent in papermaking or for water purification, and a process for producing paper which comprises adding one or more drainage and retention aids comprising the aqueous polymer dispersion to an aqueous suspension containing cellulosic fibres and then dewatering the obtained suspension.

The present invention relates to a filler composition comprising a) a filler, b) a cationic inorganic compound, c) a cationic organic compound, and d) an anionic polysaccharide, wherein the filler is present in an amount of at least about 1 % by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, the anionic polysaccharide is present in an amount of about 1 to about 100 kg/ton, based on the weight of filler, and wherein the composition is substantially free from fibers. The invention further relates to a filler composition comprising a), b), c) and d) as defined above wherein the filler is present in an amount of at least about 1 % by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, the cationic inorganic and organic compounds are each present in an amount of from about 0 to about 30 kg/ton, based on the weight of filler, whereby the composition comprises at least one of the cationic inorganic and organic compounds, and the anionic polysaccharide has a degree of substitution of net anionic groups of up to about 0.65. The invention further relates to a method of preparing a filler composition comprising mixing a), b), c) and d) as defined above. The present invention concerns a process for the production of a cellulosic product comprising providing a fiber-containing suspension, wherein at least about 60% by weight of the fibers are cellulosic fibers,and dewatering the suspension on a wire to form a cellulosic fiber web, the process further comprisingadding silica-based particles to the formed web and a wet strength agent to the suspension and/or to the formed web. The invention also concerns a product obtainable by the process. The invention further concerns a dispersion comprising silica-based particles and a substantially aldehyde-free wet strength agent. The invention relates to a process for preparing a layered double hydroxide containing a charge-balancing anion comprising the steps of: a) preparing a mixture comprising a trivalent metal ion source, a divalent metal ion source, a suspending medium, and optionally an anion precursor of the charge-balancing anion, the total amount of divalent, trivalent metal ion sources and optional anion precursor being 30 wt% or higher, based on the total weight of the mixture; b) treating the mixture in a mixing device to form the layered double hydroxide.
