Abstract

A hitch may be configured to laterally offset the longitudinal axis of a towed implement with respect to the longitudinal axis of a towing vehicle so as to shift the towed implement to either of a left side or a right side of the towing vehicle. The hitch may provide added reach to either of a left side or a right side of a towing vehicle and provide a significantly reduced turning radius. In some embodiments, the advantages of including a variable offset hitch may be achieved without adding excessive length between a towing vehicle and pulled implement.

Abstract

A wood chipper having a rotatable drum configured to reduce the size of wood fed into the wood chipper; a sensor configured to sense a speed of rotation of the rotatable drum; and a controller operably connected to the sensor. The controller is configured to cut power to the rotatable drum when the speed of rotation of the rotatable drum drops below a pre-set threshold value. The controller is operably engaged with a centrifugal clutch that is engaged to enable the rotatable drum to be rotated. When the speed of drum rotation drops below the threshold value because debris is slowing down rotation of the drum, the centrifugal clutch is disengaged by dropping engine speed. Disengagement of the centrifugal clutch cuts power to the drum and rotation thereof ceases so that the debris may be cleared.

Abstract

A vacuum truck for dispensing water into a sewer or similar location and receiving recovered water from the sewer that includes debris to be removed therefrom. The vacuum truck includes a debris tank that receives the recovered water and retains debris removed from the recovered water. A primary and a secondary filter are positioned in the debris tank for separating debris from the recovered water. A water pump draws the recovered water through the secondary filter and provides the water to a tertiary filter that removes smaller debris from the recovered water. The recovered water from the tertiary filter is provided directly to a jetting water pump without being accumulated in a water holding tank. The vacuum truck includes a water storage tank that includes potable water for cleaning the truck or when recovered water is not available from the debris tank.

Abstract

A water bypass valve and system for regulation and control of water pressure and water flow rate in high pressure water applications having a water pressure safety relief valve. An operator may select a desired water pressure setting in an operator interface. The water system may be controlled by a computer processor that receives pressure data from a transducer in a high pressure discharge line and a speed sensor at a water pump drive shaft. The water bypass valve, controlled by the computer processor, may regulate water flowing back to the water supply tank, allowing the safety relief valve to remain closed over a wide range of water pump operating speeds.

Abstract

A wood chipper with an air entrainment system. The wood chipper includes a chipping drum in a drum chamber and a discharge fan in a fan chamber. The chipping drum and fan are conjointly driven by a common shaft. The discharge fan draws air from the drum chamber through a chamber air inlet and potentially also from the ambient atmosphere through an external air inlet. The volume of air drawn from the drum chamber is sufficient to offset or overcome the negative air flow created by the spinning drum in the drum chamber to reduce blowback. Air entrained with the chipped material moves toward the discharge chute and away from the material inlet. A deflector may be include near the mouth of the discharge chute to further guide air flow from the fan chamber toward the discharge chute and prevent the backflow of air into the chipping chamber.

Abstract

A gearbox for an engine-driven mechanism comprises a gearbox housing having opposing walls. A first bearing bore is defined in one of the opposing walls and adapted for receiving an input shaft. A second bearing bore is defined in the other opposing wall and aligned with the first bearing bore. Each bearing bore mounts a bearing for supporting the input shaft which extends through the first bearing bore and into the gearbox. The second bearing bore includes an associated transparent and/or translucent lens to define a sight window for monitoring the level of oil in the gearbox. A sight window of this nature is particularly well suited for retrofitting older gearboxes which lack a sight window.

Abstract

A cutting tooth having a blade-like cutting section and a mounting section extending down from the bottom of the cutting section. The mounting section is narrower and shorter than the cutting section, and generally centered with respect to the cutting section. The mounting section has laterally extending flanges spaced from the cutting section. At least a quarter of the cutting section extends past the front of the mounting section and terminating in a cutting edge. The cutting tooth is adapted to be mounted in a mounting block to form a cutting assembly. The mounting block has a slot extending into the block from the front face, the slot open in the top surface of the block. The mounting section of the tooth slides into the slot in the block to locate the cutting section on the top of the block with the cutting section projecting forwardly of the block. The flanges on the tooth hold the tooth in place in the block against centrifugal forces. The cutting assembly is adapted to be mounted between two collars on a brush cutting drum with the cutting tooth above the periphery of the collars.
