Abstract

A weight scale for a gas cylinder with an impact resistance system has a rotatable top housing and a bottom housing, which is located opposite the lower surface of the top housing. The top housing has a top protruding portion that protrudes toward the bottom housing and a caster bearing that is rotatably mounted on the lower surface of the top housing. The bottom housing has a caster ramp provided on the upper surface thereof such that the caster bearing can roll down the caster ramp when the top housing is pushed down and rotates with respect the bottom housing. A weight sensor is placed on the upper surface of the bottom housing adjacent the ramp. The weight sensor is configured to measure the weight of the gas cylinder when the caster bearing rolls off the caster ramp and onto the weight sensor.

Abstract

Rotary systems are described, which can include at least one of compressors and vacuum pumps. Each rotary system includes a corresponding piston that rotates in an orbital motion around a respective eccentric of a shaft in order to either compress fluid or function as a vacuum pump. Multiple rotary systems can be executed on parallel on a single shaft such that these rotary systems are powered by a single motor. Various components of the rotary systems are coated with an abradable coating, which minimizes friction when these components come in contact with each other. The minimized friction minimizes the wear and tear of these components. Each rotary system can be lubricated by only the fluid being processed (for example, compressed or vacuumed) by that rotary system. The use of the fluid being processed for lubrication and the abradable coatings eliminate a need for another lubricant for lubricating the rotary system.

Abstract

A control circuit of an oxygen concentrator maintains pressure within a compressor of the oxygen concentrator. The control circuit includes a microprocessor that controls functioning of a controller based on two or more of: a user-adjustable flow rate of oxygen delivered by the oxygen concentrator to a user, an ambient temperature, and an ambient pressure. The functioning of the controller further controls the adsorption of various gases by sieve beds of the oxygen concentrator to produce oxygen enriched gas.

Abstract

An aspect of the present disclosure involves a rotary compressor that is primarily optimized for use without the need for liquid lubricants, such as in the flow path of the fluid being compressed, and is efficient and quiet to use. The compressors described herein are efficient, run quietly, use less power, and last longer than those previously known in the art. The compressors are useful for medical applications and other clean gas applications, for instance, where lubricants could contaminate the fluid being compressed and/or increased noise and/or vibration may be problematic.

Abstract

A medical ventilator system that allows the use of pulse flow of oxygen to gain higher FIO2 values and/or conserve oxygen is described. In one embodiment, the ventilator system includes an oxygen concentrator, a medical ventilator and a breathing circuit between the ventilator and a patient. In one embodiment, the oxygen concentrator includes a controller module that is configured to generate a trigger signal to initiate the distribution of one or more pulses of oxygen from the oxygen concentrator to the patient circuit at the onset of a ventilator supplied breath. A small flow of oxygen can be added in between pulses to aid in gaining higher FIO2.
