Abstract

A method of manufacturing a container, said container comprising a bottom element (10) and a side element (18), said bottom and side elements each being formed from sheet material, said sheet material comprising a layer of plastic to which an amount of inorganic powder material has been added, said method of manufacturing the container comprising the steps of: a) cutting the bottom element and the side element from a supply of the sheet material, b) folding the bottom element (10) and/or the side element (18), c) assembling the bottom element (10) and the side element (18) such that a portion of the bottom element abuts and overlaps a portion of the side element, and d) joining the bottom element (10) to the side element (18) together. According to the invention the step of joining is performed via an ultrasonic welding operation. In this way an effective and stable method is provided which results in a high quality container.

Abstract

The present disclosure envisages a jig (100) for manufacturing a container with a rolled free edge. The jig (100) comprises a container fixture (110) and a rolling die (150). The container fixture (110) comprises a first set of split jaws (125) abutting an operative outer side of the container near the free edge of the container, and arranged to slide along the outer sides of the container, thereby supporting the outer sides during the rolling operation. The rolling die (150) of one embodiment comprises a second set of split jaws (165) having a rounded groove (155), the split jaws of said second set of split jaws are arranged to contract during the rolling operation.

Abstract

The template (112) includes at least one cut-out (126) exposing the portion (204) of the film (202) to the surface treatment unit (110) for performing the surface treatment. Furthermore, the machine is adapted to displace the film (202) relative to the surface treatment unit (110) during the surface treatment of the film (202).
