In order to make it possible to definitively detect the open/closed state of a door, the present invention is equipped with: a body 4; a latch 7 for pivoting on the surface side of the body 4, and having a cam part 73 on the outer periphery thereof; a detection lever 30 for pivoting on the rear-surface side of the body 4 around a shaft 301 parallel to the axial center direction of the latch 7, having a detection part 302 for projecting to the surface side through a long hole 42 provided in the body 4 and sliding along the cam part 73 according to the rotations of the latch 7, also having a cam surface 303 provided on the opposite side from the detection part 302 so as to sandwich the shaft 301 therebetween, and having the ability to rotate to a position corresponding to the latch 7 rotation position as a result of the detection part 302 sliding along the cam part 73 according to the rotations of the latch 7; and a detection switch 31 capable of detecting the open/closed state of the door by turning on and off as a result of contact with and separation from the cam surface 303, according to the rotations of the detection lever 30, and provided on the rear-surface side of the body 4.

A door latch device for an automobile is provided with: a latch (7) rotatably supported by a first shaft (11) and capable of engaging with a striker (S); a pawl (8) rotatably supported by a second shaft (12) and capable of holding the latch (7) at a fully latched position or a partially latched position; a memory lever (10) rotatably supported by a third shaft (13) so as not to axially overlap the latch (7) and the pawl (8) and configured so that, when the pawl (8) is rotated in a release direction while the latch (7) is located at the fully latched position, the memory lever (10) is capable of holding the pawl (8) at a release position at which the pawl (8) is incapable of being held at the fully latched position or the partially latched position; and a release section (77) which, when the latch (7) is rotated from the fully latched position to an open position and is located in the range between the partially latched position and the open position, releases the pawl (8) held at the release position and allows the pawl (8) to rotate to an engagement position.

A power drive unit system includes a vehicle door, a slide member, a motor, first and second cable guide members, first and second cables, an external spool, a door inner panel and one guide track. The internal spool unit includes an internal spool. The motor operatively communicates with the internal spool. The first cable guide member is associated with a first cable and the external spool. The first cable is attached to the internal spool and the external spool. The second cable guide member is associated with a second cable and the external spool. The second cable is attached to the internal cable spool the external spool, which in turn communicates with an output gear. The motor actuates the internal cable spool to pull the second cable, thereby causing rotation of the external spool and the drive shaft. The rotation of the drive shaft results in rotation of the door relative to the body; after which the door slides open.
