Abstract
A method for identifying and sorting batteries comprising receiving a stream of mixed batteries, spatially separating the stream of mixed batteries into a plurality of batteries, directing a non-destructive beam of neutrons at a battery of a plurality of batteries, sensing an electromagnetic signature emitted in response to the non-destructive beam of neutrons directed at the battery, analyzing the electromagnetic signature to determine a composition of the battery, and sorting the battery to a location based on the composition.

Abstract
A system and method for processing mixed batteries to separate lead batteries, lithium batteries, and non-conforming batteries for different battery recycling processes. Methods automate mixed battery sortation processes for economically scalable battery recycling. Methods automatically divert lead batteries and lithium batteries to be recycled in different processes as well as reduce volume of unknown batteries to be manually inspected.

Abstract
A system and method for recovering heavy metals from nonhazardous scrap lead acid battery slag using pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical process to clean slag for commercial use as an environmentally friendly substitute solid filler in product. Process recovers previously nonhazardous landfilled lead and tin for value economically for the business unit and repurposes the businesses major solid waste stream. Methods iteratively remove tin, lead, antimony, arsenic from slag to be used in commercial materials as well as concentrate lead and tin in a fume to recover lead for recycled production and produce commercial grade tin.
