Abstract

Disclosed herein is an ink rail assembly having a key sharing provision. The ink rail assembly includes a page pack having an ink inlet for receiving ink from an ink source and an ink outlet; and an ink rail fluidly coupled to the page pack ink outlet. The ink rail includes at least two ink keys for delivering ink to a drum of a printing press, and a diverter assembly in fluid communication with the at least two ink keys and to the page pack to control the flow of ink from the page pack and selective divert the flow of ink between the at least two ink keys.

The invention relates to a cylinder (54) for transporting a flat substrate, said cylinder comprising a cylindrical base body (70) which has a cylindrical surface (74) consisting of a first material, and openings (82) leading out onto the cylindrical surface. The transport cylinder (54) comprises a sleeve (72) arranged on the cylindrical surface (74), said sleeve having a plurality of through-holes (92) aligned with at least some of the openings (82). The sleeve (72) has an outer surface (88) consisting of a second material. The surface energy of the outer surface (88) is lower than the surface energy of the first material. The invention is applicable to rotary presses.

Abstract

The invention relates to a sheet (30) conveying device (D1, D2) comprising a transport roll (56, 58) for conveying a flat substrate (18, 30), said transport roll having a transport surface (82, 102) which comes into contact with the flat substrate and has a plurality of recesses (84, 104), and a vacuum device (64) for creating a depression in the plurality of recesses. Abstract

The sheet transporting device of the invention includes: a transferring device (64) adapted to transfer a sheet (30), a conveying device (66; 66A) for conveying a sheet transferred from the transferring device (64) onto the conveying device, and a controlling means (76) adapted to control the speed of the conveying device (66; 66A) and defining a transfer cycle (CT). The controlling means (76) is adapted to slow down the conveying device (66) when a sheet is conveyed by the related conveying device and to accelerate the conveying device when no sheet is present on said conveying device. The invention can be used for the cutting devices of rotary printing machines.

Abstract

A printing press includes gear driven rollers, such as, for example, a plate cylinder and a blanket cylinder, and a pivotable gear train adapted to synchronize rotation of the cylinders, and is able to accommodate a range of cylinder sizes.
