VALVES FOR CONTROLLING FLOW OF PRESSURIZED FLUID TO A TOOL
A valve is for controlling flow of a pressurized fluid to a tool. The valve has a manifold, a poppet biased into an unseated position in which the pressurized fluid may flow from the manifold via a tank outlet, a piston configured to move the poppet into a seated position when the pressurized fluid flows into the manifold via the manifold inlet at a first fluid pressure, and a check valve biased into a closed position in which the pressurized fluid is prevented from flowing from the manifold via the tool outlet. A retainer retains the poppet relative to the piston and is configured so that when the poppet is in the seated position, the piston is independently movable relative to the poppet and thus permits the poppet to remain in the seated position upon variations in fluid pressure in the manifold.

A system and method for use in raising the height of railroad structures. Railroad structures are defined as the structures where two or more railway tracks merge, cross, or divide. The method utilizes excavating an opening beneath a railway track at or adjacent to a railroad structure. A hydraulic jack is positioned within the opening. This is repeated until sufficient hydraulic jacks have been positioned around the structure. The hydraulic jacks are then actuated to raise the railroad structure to a desired height. Generally this height provides a slight crown to the structure. Ballast is then positioned beneath the raised railway. The hydraulic jacks can be disconnected from the hydraulic lines and left in position, or removed. Preferably the hydraulic jacks are positioned on hydraulic jack sleds for improved ease in transporting the hydraulic jacks and to provide a platform on which the hydraulic jack is slid into and out of the opening beneath the railway. An apparatus is provided for use in raising a railroad structure. The apparatus utilizes a hydraulic pump and motor positioned on a frame. Hydraulic fluid is selectively provided through a manifold to the hydraulic jacks, or to one or more remote manifold(s) either directly or through the manifold. Hydraulic jack sleds are provided that are preferably configured for storage and transport on the frame.

A lift system includes a cylinder having an end surface, a threaded member supported for movement with a piston, and a nut threadedly engaging the threaded member and selectively engageable with the end surface. Engagement of the nut and the end surface limits axial movement of the piston relative to the cylinder in at least one direction. A drive mechanism rotates the nut relative to the threaded member, and a control valve controls movement of the piston relative to the cylinder. A drive control mechanism controls operation of the drive mechanism and rotation of the nut. A nut sensor senses a portion of the nut. The nut sensor is in communication with at least one of the control valve and the drive control mechanism. When the nut sensor detects a portion of the nut, the control valve stops movement of the piston or the drive control mechanism stops rotation of the nut.

The invention provides for a hydraulic cylinder position sensing and locking system that automatically maintains the position of a lock nut (36) that engages a plunger (16) on a hydraulic actuator such that if hydraulic pressure is lost, the lock nut prevents retraction of the plunger into the hydraulic cylinder (14). The hydraulic cylinder position sensing and locking system also provides for a position sensing feature that allows for the calculation of the axial stroke position of the plunger based on rotary movement of the lock nut. In addition, the invention provides for a synchronous hydraulic cylinder position sensing and locking system and methods of using both the hydraulic cylinder position sensing and locking system as well as the synchronous hydraulic cylinder position sensing and locking system.

A rotary air motor driven hydraulic pump has separate pressure and return actuators and first and second stage eccentric driven pistons 180 degrees out of phase and driven by the motor through a gear reduction unit. The pressure and return actuators are on/off/proportional valves and the pump has two pressure relief valves with one adjustable from outside of the pump for a user to set a pressure limit of the pump. Above a certain output pressure limit, a bypass valve shunts flow in excess of that needed to precharge the second stage compression chamber from the first stage piston to an elastic reservoir from which the hydraulic fluid pumped by the pump is drawn. To make the pump stall at a certain output pressure, a pressure limiting valve can be used that cuts off the air supply to the pump at the desired output pressure.

The present invention provides a slab lift bracket that includes an collar portion with a center, an upper surface, a lower surface, an outer surface, and an inner surface. The slab lift bracket also includes a plurality of protruding members that are distributed around and fixed to the collar portion. The protruding members extend outwardly and downwardly of the collar portion at spaced apart locations, and have a hook shaped free end.
A high pressure metering valve has a valve element with a closing portion, a metering portion and a rapid return portion. The closing portion seats against a corner seat at the end of a valve bore in which the metering portion has a close sliding fit. When the element is unseated, a flow rate can be metered depending on the overlapping length of the metering portion in the valve bore. At the opposite end of the metering portion, the rapid return portion is undercut to be of smaller area than the metering portion to provide a full open state for rapid fluid return.
A hand operated hydraulic pump has a cam that is pivoted by a compensation cylinder that rotates the cam so as to move the pivot of an operating handle closer to the pump plunger as the output pressure of the pump increases.
