Abstract

The present invention relates to a system for preventing a collision among a plurality of cranes. The system includes GPS receivers and local controllers. The GPS receivers are installed on the various cranes, respectively, and receive GPS coordinates and transmit the GPS coordinates through a wireless network. The local controllers are installed on the various cranes, respectively, and predict, on the basis of the GPS coordinates received from a specific crane, a collision with said specific crane within a communicable range through the wireless network. Thus, the possibility of a collision between the cranes can be significantly reduced. In addition, since the local controller predicts the possibility of a collision only with the specific crane disposed within the communicable range through the wireless network, a configuration of the local controller can be simplified, and the time taken to predict a collision is significantly decreased. Moreover, even when a portion of the local controllers is out of order, since the local controller of the normally operating crane can predict a collision with another crane, the possibility of a collision between the cranes is reduced, and thus overall operation is rendered efficient.
