Apparatus for on demand production of hydrogen by electrolysis of water including an elongated, tubular housing with a first open end and second open end, wherein the first end is closed with a first lid and the second end is closed with a second lid; a solid rod anode is arranged centrally within said tubular housing and a electrical connector of the rod anode reaches through the first lid; a plurality of tube shaped cathodes is arranged concentrically with respect to the central anode, wherein the tube shaped cathodes are arranged at a certain pitch within the tubular housing and a connector element is provided within the tubular housing for electrically connecting the tube shaped cathodes, wherein at least one connector which is attached to the connector element reaches through the first lid; at least one neutral conductive tube is placed between two consecutive tube shaped cathodes; and at least one neutral conductive tube is placed between the rod anode and the first tube shaped cathode surrounding the rod anode.

Abstract

The invention discloses a unit (1 ) for the electrolysis of water. The unit (1 ) comprises a plurality of stacked conductive plates (10) which are separated from each other by a non conductive sealing ring (12). At least one of the stacked conductive plates (10) functions as an anode (15). A plurality of the conductive plates functions as a cathode (16), wherein the number of cathodes (16) is double the number of anodes (15).

Abstract

The invention discloses a system for the production of hydrogen from water by electrolysis. A container, defining a first portion for holding a plurality of parallel and plate like anodes and a second portion for holding a plurality of parallel and plate like cathodes. The system comprises also a relay, a switchable electric circuit, and a fuse. A cover is provided for the first portion with an outlet and an attached duct for oxygen, wherein the duct for oxygen leads to the environment. The cover is provided for the second portion with an outlet and an attached duct for hydrogen, wherein the duct for hydrogen leads to an internal combustion engine. An inlet to the container provides water from a reservoir, so that the level of water is maintained at a constant level within the container.

The cover (7) for the second portion is provided with an outlet (14) and an attached duct for hydrogen, wherein the duct for hydrogen leads to an energy user or an internal combustion engine. An inlet (26) to the container (2) provides water from a reservoir (42), so that the level of water is maintained at a constant level within the container (2).
