The mechanism for removing and inserting the bee frames comprises a frame loader linearly displaceable along at least one hive chamber.
A beehive frame cover, method, and apparatus for usage thereof, the beehive frame cover having an elongated body portion extending at least to a length of a top bar of a beehive frame and adapted in size and shape to cover at least a portion of the top bar when placed juxtaposed over and parallelly to the top bar, and two arms disposed at opposite ends of the elongated body portion at a distance adapted to accommodate the top bar, the two arms extruding downwardly from the elongated body portion and adapted to engage and grip the top bar at each of respective opposite ends thereof when placed juxtaposed against and laterally to each of the respective opposite ends of the top bar.
A method comprising: (a) lowering two pairs of mechanical rods into inter-frame spaces on each side of a single hive frame in a beehive; (b) decreasing a distance between downward facing jaws of a motorized clamp until said jaws engage and retain the single hive frame; and (c) lifting said motorized clamp.
Disclosed herein is a system for controlling one or more arrays of bee passage gates in an automated bee habitat, comprising one or more gate arrays comprising a plurality of gates to one or more chambers of an automated bee habitat, each of the gates is individually moveable, independently of all other gates, to set a size of a respective one of a plurality of openings configured for bees passage to the one or more chambers, one or more mechanisms adapted to control each of the plurality of gates independently of the other gates, and a controller adapted to operate the one or more mechanisms to control one or more of the plurality of gates to set the size of the respective openings.
A method, system, and computer program product for automated beehive control and management. Information related to a content of a beehive is acquired by at least one sensor. The information from the at least one sensor is received and analyzed to determine at least one attribute of at least one substance monitored in the content. Based on the at least one attribute, at least one actuator of the beehive is instructed to maneuver at least one mechanical component affecting at least a portion of an internal environment of the beehive.
A beehive for commercial or recreational beekeeping comprises: a plurality of frames and honeycomb frames in a beehive chamber; a mechanism for removing the honeycomb frames from the beehive chamber and inserting the honeycomb frames thereinto; a barrier, planar elements, fluid barrier, or any combination thereof adapted to move the honeycomb frames through while exiting the beehive chamber and to propel bees off the honeycomb frame while making sure the bees remain inside the beehive chamber.
A system including: a plurality of bee frames releasably mounted within at least one hive chamber; a mechanism that extracts a bee frame from a hive chamber and inserts a bee frame into a hive chamber; an imaging system that acquires an image of a frame; and a processing unit which: determines, based on processing the image, the specific content of each of a plurality of cells in the frame, and predicts a possibility of swarming based on identifying, in the image, at least one cell including a queen larva.
