Abstract

The invention relates to a method for fabricating a concrete slab (100) with an elongated channel (103) by using a digging tool (120) which removes unhardened concrete from a concrete slab by moving the digging tool in a digging direction (A) and rotating a blade assembly (124, 126) to scrape away a layer of unhardened concrete using the outer peripheral edges (124A, 126A) of the blade assembly and sideways pushing by using pushing sides (124B, 126B) of the blade assembly unhardened concrete towards the first end or the second end by rotating the blade assembly around an axis of rotation (122C). The blade arrangement moves the loosened unhardened concrete along an inner surface of a guide plate (130) into the direction of a collection chamber (160) of a discharge arrangement (170) by rotating the pushing sides (124B, 126B) around the axis of rotation.

Abstract

Systems and methods for forming a channel in an uncured concrete slab are described. The system includes a first blade, a second blade, and a third blade. The first and second blades are oriented vertically relative to the concrete slab and spaced a predetermined distance apart. The third blade is positioned between the first blade and the second blade to form a concrete-receiving interior. The system also includes a conveyer having fin(s) extending therefrom to move material through a chute. The first, second, and third blades are configured to cut the channel in the concrete slab and direct excess concrete into the chute where the conveyer moves the excess concrete out of and away from the channel.

Abstract

A system (10) and a method for forming a channel (26) in an uncured concrete slab (20) are described. The system (10) includes a first blade (50), a second blade (52), and a third blade (54). The first and second blades (50, 52) are oriented vertically relative to the concrete slab (20) and spaced a predetermined distance (200) apart. The third blade (54) is oriented horizontally and positioned between the first blade (50) and the second blade (52) to form a concrete-receiving interior (55). The system (10) also includes a conveyer (58) having fin(s) (60) extending therefrom to move material through a chute (57). The first (50), second (52), and third (54) blades are configured to cut the channel (26) in the concrete slab (20) and direct excess concrete into the chute (57), where the conveyer (58) moves the excess concrete out of and away from the channel (26).

Abstract

A method for creating a weep hole is disclosed. The weep hole is drilled in an uncured, concrete, hollow core structural component having one or more external surfaces and one or more internal surfaces. The weep hole is drilled using a drilling apparatus comprising a drill, a rotating drill bit with an internal fluid passageway, a power source, and a pressurized fluid source. Loose, uncured concrete material deposited near the weep hole on the one or more internal surface as a result of drilling the weep hole is removed by releasing pressurized fluid which flows from the pressurized fluid source, through the drill and the rotating drill bit.

Abstract

A hollow core element forming system including a measuring device configured to determine a location of a welding plate assembly on a casting bed. The welding plate assembly being connected to one or more prestressed strands. A hollow core forming mechanism has a strand guide located at a leading end of a support frame of the hollow core forming mechanism. The strand guide is configured to engage the one or more prestressed strands when the strand guide is in a closed position and to disengage the one or more prestressed strands when the strand guide is in an open position without interference between the strand guide and the welding plate assembly. A strand guide controller unit causes the strand guide to rotate between the open position and the closed position based on the location of the strand guide relative to the welding plate assembly.
