Abstract

A system for storing and releasing energy, comprising at least one potential energy store (1) and at least one chemical energy store (2, 3), wherein the potential energy store (1) and the chemical energy store (2, 3) are operatively connected to one another such that electrical power can be exchanged between them, and wherein the potential energy store (1) and the chemical energy store (2, 3) are connectable to an electricity network (6) in order to receive electrical power therefrom and release electrical power thereto. A method for operating a system for storing and releasing energy is also specified.

Abstract

The invention relates to a cylinder-piston arrangement for a device for storing energy, comprising a substantially vertical cylinder (2) and a piston (1) constituting a mass to be lifted, a receiving region (5) for a liquid being formed beneath a cylinder base (4), and said cylinder base (4) having a plurality of openings (6) such that liquid can be conducted from the receiving region (5) into the cylinder (2) beneath the piston (1) in order to increase the potential energy of the piston mass by raising the piston (1). The invention also relates to a corresponding device for storing energy.

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for storing energy, comprising a substantially vertical cylinder-piston arrangement where the piston (1) constitutes a mass to be lifted, liquid can be conveyed into the cylinder (2) beneath the piston (1) by means of a pump device (9) in order to increase the potential energy of the piston mass by raising the piston (1), a converter device (11) is provided and, when the piston (1) is lowered, the liquid located in the cylinder (2) can be fed to said converter device (11) in order to convert at least one portion of the potential energy of the piston mass into electrical energy.
