Abstract

Abstract

Methods and systems for shaping an electromagnetic wavefront are disclosed. A disclosed method includes tuning a tunable surface in an electromagnetic cavity and receiving the electromagnetic wavefront in the electromagnetic cavity. The electromagnetic wavefront includes a first wave defined by a first wavelength and a second wave defined by a second wavelength. The first wave and the second wave have a shared phase and a shared beam direction in the electromagnetic wavefront. The method further includes reflecting the electromagnetic wavefront within the cavity to repeatedly interact with the tunable surface, and transmitting, after reflecting the electromagnetic wavefront within the cavity, the electromagnetic wavefront from the electromagnetic cavity as a shaped electromagnetic wavefront. The first wave and the second wave have at least one of a difference in phase or a difference in beam direction in the shaped electromagnetic wavefront.

Abstract

A system for detecting receivers including at least one receiver, a container having a volume for containing the receiver, an antenna suitable for emitting a primary wave in the volume and for receiving a secondary wave emitted by the receiver in the volume in response to reception of the primary wave, and a controller suitable for controlling the emission of the primary wave and for detecting the receiver via the received secondary wave. The system further includes adjustable elements controlled by a control wave, attached to the container and having an impedance that can be modified. Each adjustable element includes a device for recovering energy from the primary wave and/or from the control wave in order to power itself, and a device for receiving the control wave which decodes an adjustment parameter so that the adjustable element controls its impedance.

The system further comprises adjustable elements (21) controlled by a control wave, fixed to the container and having an impedance that can be modified. Each adjustable element comprises a device (23) for recovering energy from the primary wave and/or from the control wave for supplying it with energy, and a device (24) for receiving the control wave that decodes an adjustment parameter so that the adjustable element controls its impedance.

A waveform shaping device that includes an adaptable surface, a controller, and a receiving device which measures a secondary wave following the reception of a primary wave by a receiver, the primary wave having been transmitted by a transmitter. Based on the measurement of the secondary wave, the controller determines an estimated value for optimization of the adaptable surface, without any connection to the receiver.
