Abstract
A holder (19) is used to press the stitching base (15) against the stitch plate (17) during the first forward stroke of the needle (3) before returning at the first reversal point and holds it in place during loop formation between the stitch plate (17) and the eye (3") of the needle (3) so that the stitching base (15) cannot be lifted by the retracting needle (3), thereby preventing the loop.

Abstract
The aim of the invention is to adjust the carriage distance on an embroidery machine. This aim is achieved in that a control rod (15) can be driven on a setting shaft (9), which extends along the embroidery machine in the rear carriage (2) and has cam cylinders (11) placed thereon, which control rod acts directly on the shuttle carriage (3) and pushes the shuttle carriage forwards and backwards in the Z direction. By means of a half rotation of the setting shaft (9), the carriage distance can be moved from the greatest to the smallest distance from the shuttle race (5) and there, by means of a rotational movement by a few angular degrees α-β, the shuttle race (5) can be adjusted within tenths of millimetres.

Abstract
The invention relates to a method for an actuating device (21, 23) for a thread-cutting and thread-clamping device (33) at an embroidery station of a large embroidery machine, wherein the device for shutting down a shuttle is used to cut and clamp the shuttle thread (68). The invention further relates to a device for actuating a thread-cutting and thread-clamping device (33), wherein a plurality of thread-cutting and thread-clamping elements (75) can be simultaneously actuated by means of one device (46).

Abstract
In the case of a method for cutting a material layer (47) on an embroidery base (45), a laser beam (51) is guided in a space (35), which space (35) is placed under negative pressure by suctioning off of air. The focal point (49) of the laser beam (51) is located in the material layer (47), which is located above the opening (41). At higher negative pressure in the cutting device (9), the material layer (47) is drawn to the opening (41) and comes to lie exactly at the focal point (49) of the laser beam (51) and is cut there. At lower negative pressure, only impurities and gases are suctioned off.

Abstract
A shuttle embroidery machine having a shuttle guide has, for each embroidery position, a rear-side driver nail (11, 11') and a front-side driver nail (9, 9') for guiding a shuttle (5). The embroidery machine comprises, at each embroidery position, a shuttle race (3) and the shuttle (5) comprises a shuttle thread for embroidering. At the rear end (16) of the shuttle (5), a magnet (37) is fitted in a region on which the rear-side driver nail (11) acts. The rear-side driver nail (11) contains a magnet (35) or a ferromagnetic material, wherein the magnet (37) and the rear-side driver nail (11) have the same polarity, such that the shuttle (5) is repelled by the rear-side driver nail (11).

Abstract
In an embroidery machine, supporting beams (121) are mounted on the frame supports (19) so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis B. Roller supports (113) are arranged in a vertically adjustable manner at the ends of the supporting beams (121) and can be pressed against the fabric roller (17) so as to counteract sagging of the loaded fabric roller (17).

Abstract
The drive bar of a shuttle embroidery machine is moved up and down by a mechanism (5, 7, 25, 31 and 33) along a movement path which is inclined relative to the vertical. The linear movement path is created without linear guide means, preferably by a mechanism that engages the drive bar.
