Abstract

The invention relates to the field of medicine and medical technology, and more particularly to a method of radiometric temperature measurement based on the non-invasive detection of temperature anomalies in the internal tissues of biological objects by means of measuring the intensity of the intrinsic electromagnetic radiation thereof, and even more particularly the invention relates to a microwave radiometer intended for monitoring the temperature of the internal tissues of a patient in the course of their daily activities. The invention can be used for detecting temperature changes and thermal anomalies in the internal tissues of a biological object as part of a suite of diagnostic measures for the early diagnosis of oncological diseases. A microwave radiometer comprises, connected in series, an applicator antenna for contact with a biological object, a switch, a circulator, a device for the amplitude detection and amplification of a microwave signal, a programmable analog integrated circuit, a Peltier amplifier, and a Peltier element. In addition, a first matched load, mounted on the Peltier element and being in thermal contact therewith, is connected to a second input of the switch, a balance arm of the circulator is connected to a second matched load, and a control output of the programmable analog integrated circuit is connected to a control input of the switch. In addition, the Peltier element, the switch and the circulator are mounted on a thermally conductive board and are in thermal contact therewith, and the switch is capable of connecting either the applicator antenna or the first matched load to an input of the circulator. The microwave radiometer is also provided with a temperature sensor, which is capable of measuring the temperature of the first matched load and transmitting the measured temperature to a device for processing and displaying data. Use of the invention makes it possible to increase the operating reliability of a microwave radiometer.

Abstract

The invention relates to the field of medicine and medical technology, and more particularly to a radio thermometer intended for non-invasively measuring the temperature of internal tissues of a biological subject. The present radio thermometer comprises, connected in series, an applicator antenna for contact with a biological subject, a switch, a circulator, which is mounted downstream of the switch, a receiving device comprising an amplifier with bandpass filters, an amplitude detector, a narrow-band low frequency amplifier and a synchronous detector, an integrator, a dc amplifier, and a reference voltage generator, which is connected to the switch and to the synchronous detector. Additionally, the radio thermometer comprises a Peltier element, which is connected to an output of the receiving device, a first and a second microwave load, which are mounted on the Peltier element and are in thermal contact therewith, and at least one temperature sensor, which is adapted to measure the temperature of the microwave loads, wherein the first microwave load is adapted for connection to the switch, the switch is adapted to connect either the applicator antenna or the first microwave load to a first arm of the circulator, a second arm of the circulator is connected to the receiving device, and a third arm of the circulator is connected to the second microwave load. The invention provides for a reduction in measurement error when measuring the internal temperature of a biological subject and an increase in the accuracy of a radio temperature measurement method in the detection of malignant tumours, as well as a reduction in the overall dimensions of the device, an increase in ease of use and a reduction in manufacturing costs.
