Abstract

A motion simulation device allowing motion in pitch and roll degrees of freedom. A base (10) supports a motion table (12) on which a seat (15) is mounted. The table is supported on the base by a main joint (13). Linear actuators (26 A & B) provide motive power for controlled movement of the seat. The motion table has an assistance lever (20) rigidly attached to it such that at a nominal point of zero angular displacement of the motion table - the centre position - a fixture point at the end of the lever, below the motion table, lies on a notional vertical axis which intersects, and is perpendicular to, the axes of pitch and roll. Attached to the fixture point is one end of an extension spring (23), the other end being attached to a point on the base structure which, at centre position, lies on the vertical axis below the assistance lever's spring fixture point.
