Abstract

An automated tracking system for a pharmacy that tracks unique identifiers (“UI”) with a stock supply of an item or items within a supply container and that provides a security system for determining a discrepancy associated with the stock supply. The UI information automatically travels with the stock supply until it is dispensed to a customer or patient, thereby allowing the system to monitor and track supply for replenishment of the supply or improper or potentially fraudulent transactions. If desired, the improved security allows supply containers and individual supplies within those containers to be stored in the same storage area thereby maximizing available storage space while still improving dispensing and filling accuracy and minimizing loss.

Abstract

An automated tracking system for a pharmacy that maintains each medication's Unique Drug Identifier ("UDI") from the stock supply container to individual prescription orders filled therefrom and provides a security system for determining a discrepancy associated with filling a prescription order. Abstract

An automated tracking system for a pharmacy that maintains each medication's Unique Drug Identifier ("UDI") information from the stock supply container to individual prescriptions filled therefrom. The UDI information automatically travels with each individual prescription until it is dispensed to a customer or patient, thereby allowing the medication contained therein to be returned to stock without risk of losing key information about the medication such as its expiration date and the like. In disclosed embodiments, the computer system can monitor key UDI information of the stock supply containers and the individual filled prescriptions to promote use of medications expiring sooner than others in the pharmacy, locate, track and promote use of returned to stock medications that have not been returned to the supply containers, and prevent the dispensing of expired or about to expire medications.

Abstract

A cost effective system that consistently and accurately verifies prescription orders and the contents of supply containers at a first location without needlessly requiring multiple verifications from different licensed pharmacy technicians or pharmacists. A computerized tracking system monitors the filling of medication bins at a remote second location and preserves the documentation of the pharmacist verification of the bin at that location where it is tagged & sealed and transported to the first location, such as a local pharmacy. There, a pharmacy worker installs the sealed bin into an automated filling machine with automated accuracy tracking systems installed while the computer system monitors and maintains integrity of the filling process without requiring additional pharmacy worker verification at the first location prior to dispensing the filled prescription to a customer or patient.
