Abstract
The invention aims to further develop a sewing machine having a holding down device for holding down material to be sewed while a stitch is formed in said material by means of at least one thread-guiding stitch forming means, such as a needle (6) that can be attached to a needle bar (5), wherein the holding down device, in order to carry out an oscillating lift motion of a holding down clamp (12), is cooperatively connected to a drive means, in such a manner that, more reliably than in the past, adherence of the material to be sewed to the needle can be prevented, even if different materials are used. According to the invention, a holding down device is proposed, which is provided with a drive means that is separate from the at least one stitch forming means, for carrying out the movement of the holding down clamp (12) during the sewing process.

Abstract
The invention relates to seam producing means for a sewing machine, comprising thread guiding means such as a needle and/or a gripper for guiding at least one thread provided for producing a seam, and comprising a thread clamping device having a thread clamp (29) into which a thread can be inserted, clamped, and guided out again in particular for producing a start of a seam. The aim of the invention is to achieve an improvement with respect to reliable seam production even at the start of a sewing process. In order to achieve said aim, a thread clamp (29) that can be actuated for such seam producing means can be closed by means of a controllable actuator for clamping and/or opened by means of the actuator.

Abstract
The invention relates to a sewing installation, comprising a sewing machine, which has a needle bar for accommodating a needle, which needle bar can be moved in an oscillatory manner, and a gripper for forming seams, which gripper interacts with the needle. The sewing installation also has a sewing-material carrier device, the sewing-material carrier of which can be moved relative to the needle bar in an X-Y plane by means of a drive device. The drive device has at least one enveloping drive comprising a driven enveloping member and at least two drive units for producing motions of the sewing-material carrier, wherein, in order to be able to produce long seams, in particular seams having any two-dimensional course, and to be able to avoid as many vibrations as possible by means of the design of the sewing installation, the sewing-material carrier device (7) is arranged outside of the sewing machine (2) and the drive device (12) has at least two enveloping members. A motor is associated with each enveloping member, wherein each of the at least two motors can produce a drive motion of the enveloping member associated with the respective motor independently of the other motor.

Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a sewing installation for sewing pocket cuts onto a base part to form a pocket, wherein, in order to achieve a distance between the base part and the front part, the pocket cut is folded around an accommodating part, which has a shape that corresponds to the desired distance between the base part and the front part while lying on the one pocket contact plate, and is accommodated in such a way in a sewing template (11), which is divided longitudinally in a symmetrical manner, that only the edge areas of the sewing material layers to be connected are located outside of the closed sewing template, wherein the sewing template is positioned in such a way that the edge areas of the sewing material layers are located beneath the sewing slit (19) of the sewing template (11).

Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a device for separating the needle and looper threads on double-thread lockstitch sewing machines having a looper revolving about a horizontal plane, wherein after completing the seam the stitched product is moved further along by means of the feeder device by an amount that is shorter than the stitch length forming the seam, whereby in this position of the stitched product at least one further stitch (knotting stitch) is formed with the feeder device inactive, and in the unchanged position of the stitched product the needle thread loop is expanded by the looper during the formation of a partial stitch (cutting stitch), wherein the catch-thread device (14) is moved from an idle position positioned laterally behind the needle (5) to a movement reversing position along a movement path extending between the piercing hole (13) and the lateral walls (16) of the looper (1), and the catch-thread point (17) penetrates into the expanded needle thread loop such that both the arm of the needle thread loop for guiding the stitched product and the region of the looper thread extending from the looper to the stitched product are laterally deflected, and in the movement reversal position of the catch-thread device (14) are both grasped by a barbed hook (18) disposed thereon and guided to the region of the piercing hole (13).
