Abstract

A method of constructing an offshore construction at an offshore area. Comprising: erecting a first outer wall (141) enclosing a containment (142) including a designated reservoir portion (101) and a designated island portion (102); lowering the water level in the containment (142), at least at the reservoir portion (101), by pumping sea water out of the containment until a predetermined range of depths (10m) in the reservoir portion (101) is reached; and using a dredger installed on-board a first vessel (V1) and having a suction hose portion (123) for removing seabed material, excavating seabed material from the designated reservoir portion (101). Further, controlling the water level, at least at the designated reservoir portion (101), including letting water in or pumping water to/from the reservoir portion to maintain the water depth inside the designated reservoir portion (101) within the predetermined range of depths during the course of excavating the seabed material. The outer wall serves as a barrier between the surrounding sea and the containment at times when excavation of seabed material is in progress. An advantage is that the containment enables an attractive trade-off between keeping a low resource consumption during deployment of the offshore construction and protecting the sea environment surrounding the containment while deploying the offshore construction.

Abstract

A pumped storage facility at an offshore location, comprising:a reservoir wall is positioned on the seabed, configured to dam up water and separating an inner reservoir from the surrounding sea;at least one pump-turbine system, configured for pumping water from the inner reservoir to the surrounding sea and for letting water from the surrounding sea drive turbines when running from the surrounding sea into the inner reservoir; wherein the pumped storage facility is characterized in that: the reservoir wall comprises multiple prefabricated large diameter steel piles, where; the prefabricated large diameter steel piles are positioned adjacently and are embedded into the seabed; a first steel sheet extending between two adjacent large diameter steel piles, such that a wall segment is established between the piles; and wherein the large diameter steel piles are at least partially filled with seabed material.

Abstract

A wall element system (101) of concrete for installation on a seabed as at least a part of a reservoir (1001) to dam up water, comprising: a pile (104) for fixation of the wall element on the seabed; a wall element (102); and a channel (103) integrated in the wall element by a concrete casting process and extending in a substantial vertical direction when the wall element is placed in a normal position on the seabed; wherein the channel is configured to guide the pile through the channel and into the seabed; and wherein the channel is, at least at a lower portion, configured to accommodate a portion of the pile for fixating the pile and the channel in a rigid interconnection. Further, there is provided an offshore reservoir and a method of building an offshore reservoir using the wall element system above.

Abstract

An offshore power storage facility with a reservoir (701), wherein the reservoir encloses a volume (702) and is configured to withstand water pressure from surrounding sea water (703); wherein the offshore reservoir is configured with a pump (706) for draining water from the reservoir by use of energy and a turbine for generating energy when filling surrounding seawater into the reservoir. The reservoir comprises: a reservoir wall (801) that comprises multiple wall elements (107); a coherent foundation (102) comprising drilled interlocking columns (201), said interlocking columns comprising a mixture of seabed material and a cement material, where the foundation extends vertically from a level substantially corresponding to the seabed level and down into the seabed; and multiple piles (106) cast into the foundation and protruding from the foundation up into the reservoir wall, where the piles are interconnected to the reservoir wall. Further, there is provided a method of building such an offshore facility.

Abstract

A set of elements (101) configured to be assembled at an offshore location as a portion of a reservoir for damming up water, said set of elements comprising: a first and a second wall supporting element (102, 103) each with a first contact surface (104, 105); a wall panel having at each of its respective ends a second contact surface (106); wherein the wall supporting elements and the wall panel are configured for an installation of the wall supporting elements at a nominal distance; wherein the first and second contact surfaces are complementary in the sense that they form a contiguous contact over a substantial portion of the height of the wall panel when positioned adjacently; and wherein the contact surfaces of either the wall panel or the wall supporting elements have a horizontally, uniform shape such that said contiguous contact between the contact surfaces of the wall supporting element and the wall panel is formed also if the distance between the wall supporting elements deviates from the nominal distance. Further, there is provided an offshore reservoir and a method of building an offshore reservoir.
