The bulk drugs of the pharmaceutical composition are: 6 to 40 parts by weight of Rhizoma Chuanxiong and 10 to 40 parts by weight of Rhizoma Pinelliae which are taken as monarch drugs; and 3 to 20 parts by weight of Fructus Gardeniae or 1 to 15 parts by weight of Rhizoma Coptidis which are taken as ministerial drugs. The pharmaceutical composition can be prepared into any of common oral dosage forms. On the basis of the monarch drugs and the ministerial drugs, the different adjuvant drugs or guide drugs can be added into the said composition according to the individual differences, so as to play the better efficacy. The pharmaceutical composition can be used for the treatment of insomnia, depression, anxiety, headache and palpitation.
