Abstract

The present invention relates to a pinch yoke of an automotive steering system being formed in multiple stages by using a cold former and minimizing a load transmitted to a mold during the multi-stage forming process of the pinch yoke, thereby prolonging the service life of the mold and increasing productivity. In addition, the present invention maintains the generation of stable metal flow lines of a product, thereby ensuring durability and improving the strength of the product. To this end, the present invention produces a pinch yoke of an automotive steering system by using a cold former (automatic multi-stage cold forging) and the process of forming the pinch yoke includes: an upsetting process which supplies a round bar material to dice of a former and then punches the top portion of the round bar material to form a fine concave portion; a preforming process which reduces the length of the material, extends the outer diameter of the material, and forms small recessed portions and chamfered portions on the upper and lower surfaces of the material; a yoke forming process which forms a yoke portion and a recess on the material; a serration forming process which forms a recessed groove and a seating surface in the yoke portion of the material, and forms a serration on the recess; and a piercing process which pierces the seating surface of the material to form a through-hole.

Abstract

In production of a solenoid valve sheet housing for an anti-lock brake system (ABS), the aim of the present invention is to make it possible to form a valve sheet housing with a micro size (2-8 mm) by means of a multi-stepped micro former, thereby not only enhancing productivity but also implementing satisfactory functions of the valve sheet housing by satisfying the roughness of a ball sheet. To achieve the above-mentioned aim, the present invention produces a solenoid valve sheet housing for an ABS for braking a vehicle by a cold forging process using a multi-stepped micro former, wherein the valve sheet housing is formed by the following processes: a material cutting process of cutting a CHQ wire coil wound in a roll shape at a certain length to obtain an annular material; a correction up-setting process of supplying the material to a dice of a former and correcting the cross section of the cut material; a preforming up-setting process for satisfying an outer diameter of the valve sheet housing by transferring the material; a preforming forward extrusion process of transferring the material to preform the material into the shape of a product; a composite forming process of transferring the material to simultaneously perform an inner diameter hole backward extrusion process and form a valve sheet; a beveling process of beveling the outer diameter by rotating the material at 180° while transferring the material; and a piercing process of forming a flow path with ultramicropores, i.e. ultramicroholes (orifices), in the center of a sheet part by rotating the material again at 180° while transferring the material.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a pipe joint for a vehicle steering system. Particularly, the pipe joint is extrusion-molded through a forming step wherein a bore hole is first formed in a cut material, then a yoke is formed, and in a final step, uneven splines are to be formed on the outer surface of the pipe joint, thereby enabling process reduction and productivity improvement to be expected. As a means for solving the problem, the present invention extrusion-molds the pipe joint through: a center groove forming step for preventing internal vibrations by supplying, to a die of a forming machine, the material cut into a predetermined length; primary and secondary backward extrusion-molding steps of extrusion-molding the bore hole by pressing, in stages, the material having the center groove formed therein; a preliminary yoke forming step of forming a preliminary yoke at one side of the material; a yoke forming step of extending the bore hole in the material and forming a U-shaped yoke; and a spline forming step of forming the uneven splines on a pipe body having the bore hole formed therein.
