Abstract

A wind farm system and a method to improve the energy production from a wind farm comprising one or more wind guides for speeding up the wind through the wind turbine rotor and thereby improving the energy production from the wind turbine. One wind guide covering several wind turbines or several wind guides with a limited gap between them have been proven to significantly improve the efficiency of wind guides. One or more wind guides covering the wind turbines in the last row of a wind farm has likewise shown unexpected significant improvements. CFD calculations have shown more than 40% improvement in generated power from a wind farm system in some cases.

Abstract

A wind guide system to speed up wind at a wind turbine and thereby improve its energy production is disclosed. The wind guide system is built with modules like load-bearing piles, steel sheet piles, shipping containers or straw bales. The main purposes of the invention are to save overall costs for new wind guide system installations to improve the cost of renewable energy, to reduce the CO2 footprint of the wind guide system and to adapt it better to site conditions and the environment. The main cost savings comprise manufacturing costs, transportation costs from the factory to the often-remote wind turbine sites and installation cost and time.

Abstract

A wind guide system (2) to speed up wind to improve the energy production from wind turbines (6) is introduced. The wind guide (2) has a geometry and/or porosity that result in less turbulence induced loads on the wind turbine rotor. The length L of the wind guide is longer than the diameter of the rotor D whereby the vortices (4) from the wind guide (2) will not hit the rotor blades (8).

Abstract

A wind guide system is disclosed for guiding the wind in front of and/or above a wind turbine from a first direction to a second direction is disclosed. The wind guide system comprises a wind guide arranged and configured to receive wind in front of and/or above a wind turbine and to change the direction of the wind so that the wind leaving the wind guide has another direction than the wind received by the wind guide. The wind turbine comprises a tower and a rotor provided with a number of rotor blades. The wind guide is arranged and configured to change the direction of the wind so that the wind leaving the wind guide will increase the wind speed of the wake behind the rotor by adding or leading some of the surrounding wind into the wake.
