Abstract
a for forming a vertical swirling flow in the inflow chamber 3 by reversing the influent liquid from the liquid inlet 6; the screen 8 is disposed along a side face of the swirling flow thus formed. This configuration permits the solids to be removed, without clogging the screen with the solids.

Abstract
Disclosed is a separator wherein issues related to removal of solids by means of a screen, and to the installation space and connection of conduits in the separator are solved. A separator (1) for separating solids contained in liquid flow comprises a separation tank (2), a partition panel (5) for partitioning the interior of the separation tank (2) into an inflow chamber (3) and an outflow chamber (4), a screen (8) provided in the partition panel (5), an inflow section (6) formed in the inflow chamber (3), and a discharge section (7) formed in the outflow chamber (4), wherein guide sections (9, 10, 10a) for forming a vertical swirling flow in the inflow chamber (3) by reversing the liquid flow from the inflow section (6) are provided in the inflow chamber (3), and the screen (8) is arranged along the side face of the swirling flow thus formed. Consequently, the screen is not clogged with solids and the solids can be removed.
