A trailer for transporting granular material, such as sand or proppant, has a purpose-built shape, and loading and unloading hatches at top and bottom. The trailer includes a hollow vessel for holding granular material. The vessel is enclosed with top and bottom hatches. The vessel has a tapered lower section and a domed upper section, allowing bulk material to be piled and concentrated horizontally below and above the hatches. A chassis extends fore and aft of the vessel, and potentially through an interior of the vessel. The chassis may extend upward from a wheeled section so as to pass through a vertically central part of the vessel. The chassis may also act as a trailer suspension system. The vessel may be made of aluminium and mounted to the steel chassis.
B60P 1/56 - Vehicles predominantly for transporting loads and modified to facilitate loading, consolidating the load, or unloading the load supporting or containing element having bottom discharging openings
B62D 65/00 - Designing, manufacturing, e.g. assembling, facilitating disassembly, or structurally modifying motor vehicles or trailers, not otherwise provided for
E21B 41/00 - Equipment or details not covered by groups
An assembly for directing bulk material from an upper conveyor to a lower conveyor is provided. The conveyors are relatively rotatable in yaw and the lower conveyor is pivotable in pitch. The assembly includes an upper hood portion, a vertical flow cone, and a bottom containment assembly. The upper hood portion redirects material from the upper conveyor downward through an exit aperture. The vertical flow cone underneath the upper hood portion is rotatable in yaw relative to the upper hood portion and is movable vertically relative to the upper hood portion. The vertical flow cone directs the bulk material from the exit aperture toward the lower conveyor. The bottom containment assembly is mounted to the lower conveyor, is movable lengthwise relative to the lower conveyor, is pivotable and movable vertically relative to the upper hood portion, and includes an aperture for receiving the material.
B65G 47/16 - Devices for feeding articles or materials to conveyors for feeding materials in bulk
B65G 47/52 - Devices for transferring articles or materials between conveyors, i.e. discharging or feeding devices
B65G 47/58 - Devices for transferring articles or materials between conveyors, i.e. discharging or feeding devices to or from inclined or vertical conveyor sections for materials in bulk
A cover shield system for a telescoping conveyor system and an associated telescoping conveyor are provided. The cover is extendable for covering a length of a telescoping portion of the conveyor system. A free end of the cover is connected to the telescoping portion at a far end. A shuttle assembly is biased to retract the cover for storage, for example by rolling the cover into the shuttle assembly under spring action. The shuttle assembly may be movably mounted to the telescoping portion of the conveyor system to allow relative movement of the shuttle assembly and the telescoping portion during telescopic extension/retraction of the conveyor system. The shuttle assembly is also anchored to the base portion at least during the telescopic extension. The cover may include reinforcement bars and/or connecting magnets. An idler roller may bias the cover toward the conveyor frame.
A method and system for handling granular material, such as proppant used in hydraulic fracturing in well drilling, is provided. In an operational configuration, a delivery module having conveyors receives and conveys granular material to a delivery location, and one or more mobile storage modules receive, hold and dispense granular material downward to the delivery module. The mobile storage modules comprise a raised, angular container portion for holding granular material. Each mobile storage module may comprise a rock- over chassis for support against ground. A remote control module provides centralized, remote control of the system. Mobile support unit modules may also he provided as a remotely controlled vehicle capable of providing power, control, heating, and the like to other modules. Mobile in-feed elevator modules may also be provided as a remotely controlled vehicle for feeding granular material to mobile storage modules. In a transportation configuration, each module is separately transportable.
