Abstract
A method for installing a wallboard in an outside-corner configuration includes inserting an end of the wallboard into a first channel of a wallboard-fastening device, placing an inner corner of the device against a corner of a framing member, and driving a fastener through a second framing panel of the device to secure the device to the framing member. The inner corner is formed where the second framing panel meets, at a right angle, a first framing panel. The first channel is formed by the first framing panel, a bridge panel, and a flat-spring flange that forms a step with the bridge panel. Mud applied over the flat-spring flange, and up to the step, covers the seam formed where the flat-spring flange contacts the wallboard. A second wallboard may be inserted into a second channel of the device such that the two wallboards are perpendicular.

Abstract
A wallboard-fastening device for securing first and second wallboards in an inside-corner configuration includes a first framing panel having a first lengthwise edge and a second framing panel having opposite second and third lengthwise edges, the second lengthwise edge directly connecting to the first lengthwise edge. A first flat-spring flange having a fourth lengthwise edge is directly connected to the third lengthwise edge such that the first flat-spring flange, the first framing panel, and the second framing panel form a channel sized to accept the first wallboard. A second flat-spring flange having a fifth lengthwise edge is connected to the third lengthwise edge. The first flat-spring flange flexes, when the first wallboard is inserted into the channel, to push against the first wallboard, and the second flat-spring flange flexes, when a rear face of the second framing panel is pushed against the second wallboard, to push against the second wallboard.

Abstract
A wallboard-fastening device secures first and second wallboards to a framing member without fasteners passing through the wallboards. The device includes first, second, and third framing panels joined along lengthwise edges to form a three-sided cup sized to fit around the framing member, first and second flat-spring flanges joined along lengthwise edges to form a front seam, and a channel-dividing panel joined lengthwise to the front seam and to the second framing panel to form first and second channels that receive the first and second wallboards. The flat-spring flanges flex to exert restoring forces on the wallboards that push the wallboards against the second framing panel. The device may be configured for edge joints, outside-corner joints, and inside-corners, and thus may be combined for any type of wallboard installation, including both parallel and perpendicular applications.
