Abstract

An automated electric vehicle charging station. The charging station can include a frame to which a vehicle can park in proximity to receive an electric charge. The frame is at least partially underneath the vehicle. The charging station can include an alignment indicator and a charging indicator to alert an occupant of the vehicle to a vehicle alignment status and a vehicle charging status. When the vehicle is parked in a charging position, an electronic charging unit automatically determines a receiving location on the vehicle where the vehicle can receive an electric charge. A charging plug can be stored in the frame and can be actuated out of the frame and travel in multiple directions to the receiving location. Electric charge can then be transferred from the charging plug to the vehicle. When the vehicle is finished charging, the charging plug can be actuated to return to the frame.

Abstract

A method of encapsulating an electronic component. The method includes applying a first layer of an encapsulating composition onto an electronic component from an applicator roll, the electronic component being disposed on a substrate. The applicator roll comprises an outer surface and is spaced apart from the electronic component such that a gap exists between the applicator roll and the electronic component. The gap controls the thickness of the first layer of encapsulating composition. The first layer of encapsulating composition encapsulates the electronic component on the substrate. An interface between the surface of the electronic component and the encapsulating composition being substantially free of voids.

Abstract

A system for cutting a web material and applying the web material on a substrate. The system comprises a feed roll configured to advance a web material. The system includes an anvil roll configured to receive the web material from the feed roll and provide a section of web material having a defined length. The system includes a cutting element configured to cut the web material to form the section of web material. The anvil roll is configured such that the anvil roll surface advances at an anvil roll surface speed. The feed roll is configured to rotate at a first feed roll surface speed that is slower than the anvil roll surface speed and a second feed roll surface speed that is substantially the same as the anvil roll surface speed when the cutting element cuts the web material.

Abstract

A coating composition comprises: A) an epoxy curing agent component; B) a microencapsulated epoxy resin component; C) an expansion agent component; D) a binder component; and E) a solvent component. In various embodiments, components B) and C) are present in a weight ratio of from about 20:1 to about 1:20. An ultraviolet-curable coating composition comprises components A), B), C) and D). The ultraviolet-curable coating composition further comprises F) a photoinitiator component. After rupture of component B), the compositions cure to form an adhesive. The compositions are useful for fasteners (e.g. screws and bolts) such that they can be referred to as fastener adhesives. A powdered adhesive composition comprises components A), B) and C). The powdered adhesive composition is substantially anhydrous and/or substantially free of a solvent (e.g. component E)). The powdered adhesive composition is useful for securing a fastener (e.g. in a borehole).

Abstract

The invention features a reinforcement element including a continuous paper strip having a first side and a second side, a first adhesive composition disposed on at least one of the first side and second side. The invention further features a paper reinforced tape including a continuous paper strip, a continuous paper backing layer and a first adhesive composition disposed between the continuous paper strip and the continuous paper backing layer thereby adhering the continuous paper strip to the continuous paper backing layer. The paper reinforced tapes and reinforcement elements of this invention have improved repulpability, recyclability, compostability and biodegradability. Further, these reinforcement elements and paper reinforced tapes, despite being predominately paper, unexpectedly provide excellent container reinforcement properties and further can be used as opening tapes, dosing tapes and carrying handles.
