Abstract

A tap cartridge, a tap or shower incorporating the tap cartridge and an appliance comprising the tap.The cartridge comprises: a self-closing part and a thermostatic mixing part.The self-closing part comprises:a first chamber having a tap cartridge outlet, a second chamber, a valve body between the chambers, means for causing movement of the valve body to selectively open the cartridge outlet, and means for causing movement of the valve body to automatically close the cartridge outlet. The mixing part comprises:a heat sensitive element configured to change shape in response to the temperature of water,and hot and cold water inlets.The heat sensitive element regulates the relative amounts of water entering the mixing part from the hot and cold water inlets by changing shape.Mixed hot and cold water exiting the mixing part enters the first chamber and exits the cartridge via the cartridge outlet when open.
