Abstract
The invention relates to a clamping spring (1) for holding down a track body element, such as a foot of a rail, the clamping spring comprising a U-shaped main portion which has: - a U bend (2); - a first leg (3) located on one side of the U bend (2); and - a second leg (4) located on the other side of the U bend (2). In this clamping spring, a retaining portion (5) curved inward in the shape of a hook and supportable on a hold-down element (12) is formed on the first leg (3), and an end portion (6) bent toward or away from the retaining portion (5) is formed on the second leg (4), the U bend (2) forming a torsion portion so that a hold-down force can be applied to the track body element by means of the bent end portion (6).

Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing a rail fastening, wherein a track body element, such as a rail foot (16) of a rail (8) for example, is elastically held down by at least one hold-down section (6), such as a holding arm for example, of a tension spring (1), in the final installation position of the tension spring, said tension spring (1) consisting of a tempered spring steel. The method has the steps of installing the tension spring (1) on a support, wherein a hold-down element (12, 25) is used to bring the tension spring (1) into a tensioned state, in which the tension spring (1) is tensioned from an untensioned state, thereby deflecting the hold-down section (6) along the spring travel (z). According to the invention, the hold-down section (6) is deflected in the direction of the spring travel (z) to such a degree during the installation process that the tension spring (1) undergoes a cold forming process, after which the tension spring (1) is at least partially untensioned.
