System for multiple pressure relief device activation
A system includes a first valve fluidly connected to a first vessel and a second valve fluidly connected to a second vessel. The first valve includes a body and a piston. The body includes first and second ports and a bore having a longitudinal axis. The first port is in communication with the bore and an interior of the first vessel. The second port is in communication with the bore, the second valve, and an atmosphere exterior to the first vessel. The piston is movable along the longitudinal axis of the bore. A first position of the piston blocks the first port; a second position of the piston allows fluid communication between the first and second ports. The first valve is configured so that fluid pressure from the second valve, communicating through the second port, urges the piston to the second position.

Systems and methods of capturing transient elastic vibrations in bodies using arrays of transducers for increased signal to noise ratio and source directionality
Provided herein are systems and methods for real time processing of signals from an array of transducers for detecting transient elastic waves originating from unknown locations in a body, which may propagate in a dispersive fashion. The systems and methods allow real time combination and analysis of signals, including decisions regarding storage as new data is received. The methods described herein include designing arrays of detectors and methods for processing signals in real time given the constraints of the body under test determining whether to store the set of information while a new set of information is received for processing within a real time environment. The methods described herein include methods which result in the determination or small time shifts which place all signals into a coherent time base which are then combined achieving a composite waveform that possesses an increased signal-to-noise ratio over any single element.

Pressure vessel liner venting via nanotextured surface
A pressure vessel has a first end with a first boss, the first boss having a first outer surface. The vessel includes a liner having a second outer surface, a shell disposed over the second outer surface, and a first vent. The first vent is formed onto at least a portion of the first outer surface and at least a portion of the second outer surface. The first vent includes a texture that provides a higher rate of gas flow through the first vent than through a portion of an interface of the liner and shell lacking the texture. In another aspect, a pressure vessel has a first end and a second end, a plurality of first longitudinal vents and a plurality of second longitudinal vents. At least one of first longitudinal vents is circumferentially offset around the pressure vessel from at least one of the second longitudinal vents.

BOSS FOR PRESSURE VESSEL HAVING FLANGE WITH THREADED PERIPHERAL SURFACE
A boss for a pressure vessel has a flange with a threaded peripheral surface. The boss may be inserted into a prefabricated dome-shaped end of a liner. Because the outer diameter of flange at its peripheral surface can be typically larger than an opening of the liner, the liner is flexed to allow passage of the larger boss flange, which is then connected to the liner from the interior of the liner. This leads to a secure connection, wherein a boss and liner are connected not only by cooperating threaded structures at the peripheral surface of the boss flange and at an opening of the liner, but also by a liner portion that overlies part of the boss flange.
A boss includes a neck and a flange that extends radially outward from the neck. The neck includes a bore therethrough with a longitudinal axis. The flange includes an exterior surface, an interior surface, and a peripheral surface at a farthest extent from the longitudinal axis. The peripheral surface connects the interior surface and the exterior surface and includes, along any radius of the boss, a first circumferential ridge and a second circumferential ridge, wherein the first circumferential ridge is located closer to the exterior surface than the second circumferential ridge. In another aspect, a pressure vessel includes a boss and a liner. In yet another aspect, a method of assembling a pressure vessel is described, which includes inserting the boss through the aperture of the liner and connecting the boss and liner so that the peripheral surface of the boss mates with the perimeter surface of the liner.
A boss (116) includes a neck (122) and a flange (124) that extends radially outward from the neck (122). The neck (122) includes a bore (126) therethrough with a longitudinal axis (152). The flange (124) includes an exterior surface (138), an interior surface (137), and a peripheral surface (128) at a farthest extent from the longitudinal axis (152). The peripheral surface (128) connects the interior surface (137) and the exterior surface (138) and includes, along any radius of the boss (116), a first circumferential ridge (158') and a second circumferential ridge (158"), wherein the first circumferential ridge (158') is located closer to the exterior surface (138) than the second circumferential ridge (158"). In another aspect, a pressure vessel (10) includes a boss (116) and a liner (120). In yet another aspect, a method of assembling a pressure vessel (10) is described, which includes inserting the boss (116) through the aperture (144) of the liner (120) and connecting the boss (116) and liner (120) so that the peripheral surface (128) of the boss (116) mates with the perimeter surface (144) of the liner (120).

The methods described herein result in the determination of small time shifts that place all signals into a coherent time base and the signals are then combined, achieving a composite waveform that possesses an increased signal-to-noise ratio over any single element.
