Abstract

A vehicle with offset propulsion motors is provided. The vehicle comprises: a body; and a plurality of propulsion motors at a side of the body, arranged in a line about parallel to a movement axis of the body. Displacements between adjacent propulsion motors along the movement axis are selected according to an electrical period of poles of the plurality of propulsion motors, and an offset distance. The offset distance is determined by dividing the electrical period into the offset distance to determine a remainder. The electrical period divided by the remainder is about equal to a number of the plurality of propulsion motors divided by a given integer value that is less than the number of the plurality of propulsion motors, and produces a largest common divider between the given integer value and the number of the plurality of propulsion motors of "1".

Abstract

A solution is disclosed for designing a transportation network (101) comprising hyperloop. The solution generally provides a system and a method both being configured to generate a hyperloop route (627A) between two locations (115A, 115B). A user may interact with a hyperloop route via a user interface. The system is further configured to perform optimizations on a candidate hyperloop route while conforming to constraints and limits. The system may utilize a genetic algorithm in order to optimize more than one parameter as part of optimizing the candidate hyperloop route. A single parameter optimizer is also provided that requires fewer computational resources. The solution provides for simulation of the candidate hyperloop route in order to further evaluate the desirability of the candidate hyperloop route. A plurality of metrics based on the simulation may be presented to the user via the user interface.

Abstract

The disclosed solution generally relates to a hyperloop vehicle detecting objects in a hyperloop system. Hyperloop vehicles operate at incredible velocities and require robust systems to detect objects that increase the risk to a hyperloop vehicle. Transponders typically provide long-range data about the activity of downstream hyperloop vehicles. However, nearby objects require detection at line-of-sight distances in order to ensure that objects and vehicles within a given transponder interval distance are detected. The disclosed system provides an elegant solution that combines the advantages of both transponder-based object detection and sensor-based object detection.

Abstract

A solution is disclosed relating to a motion execution controller configured to send commands to a plurality of electromagnetic assemblies attached to a hyperloop vehicle. A state estimation system is configured to determine a future position and/or orientation of the hyperloop vehicle (i.e., the state of the hyperloop vehicle). Abstract

A system and method are disclosed herein and relate to a communication network within a hyperloop bogie, wherein the communication network logically connects a plurality of power electronic units. A first power electronic unit may generate a network packet to be sent to a second power electronic unit. The first and second power electronic units may perform a vote to determine a voting result. The first and second power electronic units may substantially independently perform further action based on the voting result. The first and second power electronic units may determine the voting result prior to the conclusion of a critical timeframe beginning with the transmittal of the network packet and ending with the voting result being stored.

Abstract

A solution is disclosed that is related to the supervised operation of an autonomous hyperloop network. The disclosed solution provides for a hybrid approach to managing an autonomous network wherein human-based and computer-based commands may be send to a plurality of hyperloop pods in order to provide safety and efficiency for the hyperloop network. Issues may be presented to human operators such that actions may be taken to address the issues. Additionally, recommendations as to which action to take may be presented to the human operator via a user interface. The human operator may define a set of global restrictions and operational parameters as a policy that constrains the operations of the hyperloop pods within the hyperloop network.

Abstract

Method of forming track section includes coupling functional components to a framework. At least some of the functional components are arranged in a precise and accurate arrangement in a common plane. Building a rigid, removable, and reusable mold around the framework and functional components. Steel reinforcement (“rebar”), which is bent into a shape corresponding to a track section profile, is provided within the mold. Dispensing a binder material into the mold and curing the binder material; and removing the mold from the cured binder material to reveal a completed track section at required accuracy set by the framework. At least some other functional components are arranged parallel to each other in a first lateral plane normal to the common plane and at least still other functional components are arranged parallel to each other in a second lateral plane normal to the common plane and parallel to the first lateral plane.

Abstract

The disclosed solution provides for an inland port that is configured to load and unload cargo using autonomous systems (including autonomous tractors). The inland port may be serviced by a hyperloop network (of hyperloop routes) between the seaport and the inland port. The disclosed solution may rely on autonomous hyperloop vehicles in the hyperloop network to transport the cargo containers between the seaport and the inland port. At both the seaport and the inland port, autonomous tractors may, in some implementations, be utilized to load and unload the cargo that will be carried by the hyperloop vehicle and/or the truck.

Abstract

A system and method for guidance control on a wheeled bogie is disclosed herein. An electromagnetic engine may be coupled to the wheeled bogie such that the electromagnetic engine may generate magnetically attractive forces between the electromagnetic engine and the rail. The generated force may be used to increase traction for braking and climbing operations. Further, the generated force may be used to counteract hunting oscillation. Still further, the generated force may be used to counteract lift generated by the wheeled bogie operating in a turn with cant.

Abstract

A system and method for scanning and evaluating a portion of rail operable for travel by a wheeled bogie having a plurality of electromagnetic engines. The electromagnetic engines are generally operable to generate an electromagnetic field that is operable to penetrate a rail. A resulting eddy current may be generated that is further operable to penetrate the rail. As the electromagnetic engines travel along the rail, readings from the electromagnetic field and resulting eddy current may be used to detect differences in the rail as measured with respect to a nominal rail. The defects detected may be head checks, cracks, corrosion, etc. Further, a treated rail section may be utilized to strengthen the rail itself without compromising non-destructive evaluation. The disclosed system and method may be embodied as a computer program product.

Abstract

Method of forming track section includes coupling functional components to a framework. At least some of the functional components are arranged in a precise and accurate arrangement in a common plane. Building a rigid, removable, and reusable mold around the framework and functional components. Steel reinforcement ("rebar"), which is bent into a shape corresponding to a track section profile, is provided within the mold.
