Abstract

A method of fabricating a plenum insert for a vehicle seat includes the steps of providing an outer material layer having an edge, providing an inner spacer layer, placing the inner spacer layer material on the outer material layer, folding the outer material layer over the inner spacer layer such that the edge overlaps itself, and sealing the overlapping edge of the outer material layer to contain the spacer layer.

Abstract

A seat heater includes a substrate. A formed heating wire is disposed on the substrate. A sewing thread attaches the formed heating wire to the substrate. A method of fabricating the seat heater includes forming a straight heating wire into a formed heating wire having miniature wave shape, feeding the formed heating wire onto a substrate, and attaching the formed heating wire onto the substrate by sewing a thread.

Abstract

An air conditioning unit includes a shaped body forming at least one part of a seat cushion. The shaped body has a seating surface and an opposite lower side. An air flow module is arranged at the lower side of the shaped body. The air flow module includes an air mover and has an air inlet opening and an air outlet opening. The shaped body has at least one air through-hole extending from the seating surface to the air flow module. The air flow module is in fluid communication with the at least one air through-hole in the shaped body. At least one channel extends in a radial direction adjacent the lower surface of the shaped body. The air flow module is in fluid communication with the at least one channel, and provides airflow between the seating surface of the shaped body and the at least one channel.

Abstract

An air manifold includes a sheet-like body including first and second spaced, opposing walls and a sealed perimeter. A plurality of divider walls connects the first and second walls together and defines a plurality of air channels within the body. An opening in the body defines an air port cooperable with an air mover. The air port is in fluid communication with the air channels. At least one zone inside the body is free of the divider walls. A group of the air channels are in fluid communication with each other through one the zone. A plurality of air vents located in the first wall are in fluid communication with at least one of the air channels. The air manifold is disposable between a seat cushion element and a structural support of a seat. The first wall of the air manifold faces a backside surface of the seat cushion element.

Abstract

A ventilation diffuser bag for disposition on a vehicle occupant support includes a perforated, occupant facing side and an opposite non-perforated, support surface facing side. The non-perforated side includes an opening to allow air flow into the diffuser bag. An air mover support integral with the non-perforated side includes an endless sidewall extending from the opening for providing support for an air mover. The endless sidewall includes a retaining edge spaced from the non-perforated side for suspendably retaining the air mover within the air mover support. The non-perforated side of the diffuser bag is supportable on an occupant facing surface of a vehicle occupant support, and the air mover support extends into the occupant support.
