Abstract

A method for ameliorating or treating Parkinson's disease includes administering a composition including an osmotin protein as effective component to a subject in need thereof. The composition has the effects of alleviating behavior and motor skill deficits induced by MPTP/α-synuclein, protecting dopaminergic neurons, regulating the expression level of neuroinflammation-related proteins, inhibiting apoptotic cell death induced by MPTP/α-synuclein, alleviating cell damage caused by overexpression of α-synuclein (A53T), reducing the accumulation of α-synuclein caused by activation of AMPK and subsequent autophagy, regulating the dendritic complex structure, increasing the spine density in pyramidal neurons, alleviating the cognitive deficits, and restoring the expression of synaptic markers. The osmotin protein can be advantageously used for a functional health food or a pharmaceutical product for preventing, ameliorating, or treating Parkinson's disease.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for measuring rheological properties of a fluid by using a rotating body having any shape, the method, more specifically, comprising: a shape coefficient derivation step of deriving a shape coefficient of the rotating body on the basis of the motion characteristics of the rotating body for a fluid of which rheological properties are known; a motion measurement step in which a measurement unit measures motion information of the rotating body moving under preset conditions while the rotating body is in contact with the fluid of which rheological properties are to be measured in a container; and a rheological property calculation step of calculating rheological property information of the fluid to be measured on the basis of the shape coefficient of the rotating body and the motion information of the rotating body. In addition, according to the present invention, linear and nonlinear viscoelastic data measured under oscillatory shear flow, which was thought to only be possible by means of expensive and cutting-edge equipment such as a rheometer, can be measured without a rheometer. Furthermore, the present invention can be installed directly at an industrial site (on-site) for process control for processing complex fluids, and has the effect of enabling the rheological properties including viscoelastic behavior of complex fluids to be monitored in real time in-situ.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a nucleic acid molecule for the expression of multiple proteins, wherein a plurality of protein expression constructs is structured into a single entity through the hybridization reaction of additional sequences bound to each end thereof. The present invention enables the simultaneous and equimolar expression of a plurality of target proteins with efficiency within a single host cell through the simple design of attaching an arbitrary additional sequence to the 3' end of each expression construct, the arbitrary additional sequence being designed for either direct hybridization therebetween or simultaneous hybridization to the same linker molecule. The present invention can be particularly useful as an efficient multiple expression system overcoming the drawbacks of conventional self-cleaving peptide expression systems that exhibit uneven expression patterns among different proteins.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition for boosting immunity and preventing, ameliorating, and treating Parkinson's disease, the composition comprising O-cyclic phytosphingosine-1-phosphate (cPS1P) derivative as an active ingredient. More specifically, administration of cPS1P of the present invention significantly increased motor function of an animal model of Parkinson's disease, and in an MPTP-induced mouse and an NSE-hαSyn transgenic mouse, administration of cPS1P not only significantly increased the expression of the S1P1 receptor (S1PR1), but also significantly decreased the expression of αSyn. In addition, since there is an effect of a decrease in expression levels of inflammatory cytokines, which have increased in glial cells of an MPTP-induced mouse and an NSE-hαSyn transgenic mouse, by administration of cPS1P of the present invention, the active ingredient of the present invention can be used as a medicine for Parkinson's disease.

Abstract

This isotope separation method uses a flexible metal organic framework (FMOF) capable of selectively separating/collecting isotopes by means of the kinetic quantum sieve (KQS) effect, and thus can selectively separate a specific isotope from a mixture of isotopes under specific conditions. This separation effect can be attributed to the difference in diffusion rate between isotopes in the pores of a porous material. The difference in diffusion rate between isotopes in the present invention can be determined by a quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) experiment for microscopic observation of isotopic molecular transport during the breathing transition (BT) of pores (100). It can be determined through QENS that deuterium diffuses faster than hydrogen in the pores (100), and the difference in diffusion rate between isotopes may increase with increasing temperature. The present invention can be applied to an adsorbent capable of separating isotopes using the KQS effect even at a high temperature of 77K or higher.

Abstract

A method for ameliorating or treating brain damage and mild cognitive impairment includes administering a composition including glutamine or a salt thereof as effective component to a subject in need thereof. Glutamine as the effective component not only can restore the memory and cognitive ability impaired by stress but also can suppress a damage on nerve cells, reduce the amount of ROS/RNS and other related proteins in brain tissues, and enhance synaptic plasticity. When the animal model of Alzheimer's disease is fed with glutamine, cognitive ability of the animal is improved and accumulation of Aβ42 is suppressed.

Abstract

A fertilizer composition according to an embodiment may reduce methane gas emission. The fertilizer composition includes ethephon as an effective component, and has an excellent effect of reducing the emission amount of methane gas from soils in which crops are cultivated. As the fertilizer application can be reduced to one application, labor can be saved and also environmental contamination can be prevented.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for predicting the severity of radiation pneumonitis in non-small cell lung cancer patients who have undergone concurrent chemoradiotherapy. The present inventors have identified the specific up- or down-regulated index cytokines and the specific time points at which the levels change according to the severity of radiation pneumonitis developed in non-small cell lung cancer patients who have undergone concurrent chemoradiotherapy. The cytokines of the present invention are measured three weeks after radiation treatment, such that the severity of radiation pneumonitis can be effectively predicted or diagnosed, and it is expected that the present invention can aid in reducing the risk of misdiagnosis and establishing an accurate treatment method for radiation pneumonitis and non-small cell lung cancer.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition for preparing retinoid, and more specifically, the composition comprises: NADH or NADPH; a beta-carotene oxygenase; and a flavodoxin or ferredoxin, a reductase of a flavodoxin or ferredoxin, a microorganism expressing the same, or a cultured product or a ground product of the microorganism, and thus can expand the supply metabolism of reducing electrons to enhance retinoid productivity through an increase in the activity of the cytochrome P450 system and provide a foundation for the low-cost production of raw materials, and thereby enhance the economic feasibility and efficiency of retinoid production.
