A stitchless baffle bulk bag including one or more baffle inserts that are heat sealed to a bag body using a hot melt film. A baffle insert includes a plurality of lateral straps spaced in between longitudinal panels. Tabs extend from the longitudinal panels into the space between lateral straps, above and below the lateral straps. A hand-held lift loop assembly tester apparatus and method tests peel strength of a heat seal connection between a lift loop patch and a bulk bag body as an indicator of shear strength of the connection and whether the bag will pass industry safety lifting requirements. A lifting platform of the hand loop tester is inserted between the patch and the bag body in an unsealed area and measures the amount of peel and thus the peel strength of the heat seal bond or connection at the edges or sides of the unsealed area. If the peel strength is adequate, this is a reliable indicator that the shear strength of the bond or connection is also adequate and that the bag will meet the current industry required 5 to 1 safety lifting requirements.

A discharge assembly for use with a flexible bag, e.g., a bulk bag, comprises a discharge spout coupled to a bottom panel of the bag, wherein the discharge spout is configured to be rolled. A releasable flexible fabric tape or tie secures the discharge spout in rolled configuration to the bottom panel to define a closed configuration for the discharge spout. A fabric bulk bag and a method for constructing the same, the bag including a continuous sidewall, a top portion, and a bottom, all defining a bulk storage space therein; the bottom further comprising eight sides which define an octagonal shape having an enlarged footprint so that the bag wall is sewn to the bottom in less time than a round shaped bag, yet when filled stands more upright with less tendency to lean than the current square shaped bags thereby providing a safer more dependable stacking bulk bag. In the method of producing the fabric bulk bag, the bag is constructed in less time than the prior art round bottom bags, uses less wall fabric than prior art square bottomed bags and when constructed and filled, supports itself more stable on a floor or pallet because it provides substantially more base for the product to rest on. In other embodiments, the bag would be multi-sided with greater than four sides.
An improved bulkbag and method of making same, of the type having four sidewalls, a floor and top portion, all portions stitched together to define the enclosure for the bulk bag housing material. The bag comprises a plurality of four wall panels, which each panel having a first and second vertical edge for sewing into the next adjacent panel along each edge. Prior to sewing the panels together, to each upper edge of each panel there is provided a first and second leg of a lifting loop, so that each loop spans from the first edge to the second edge of each panel. The panels are then sewn together along their edges, and there is defined the bulk bag, with the ends of each of the four lifting loops terminating at the stitch line between panels, which define the middle of each sidewall of the bag. There would then be provided a reinforcement ring at each point where a pair of legs of lifting loops are stitched to strengthen the attachment point. Further there would be provided at each lifting loop attachment points a dart, or stacker seam to define the bottleneck feature of the bag. The lifting loop attachment points would define a vertical seam along the surface of the dart defined by the stacker seam. Further there is provided a back tack stitching feature to prevent spread forces in the filled bag, and reinforcing strapping in the loops to provide a stiffening feature to the loops.
