[Solution] The knock-type writing instrument is provided with: a shaft cylinder (2); a writing body (8) accommodated inside the shaft cylinder (2); a feeding mechanism (3) feeding the writing body (8) forward; and an operating body (4) arranged at the rear of the feeding mechanism (3). The knock-type writing instrument has a handwriting transforming member (5) attached in front of the operating body (4) and used to remove, thermally discolor, or hide handwriting written by means of the writing body (8). The operating body (4) at least partially protrudes from the shaft cylinder (2), and is attached to be slidable back and forth and detachable with respect to the shaft cylinder (2) by a magnetic force acting between the shaft cylinder (2) and the operating body (4).
A mechanical pencil has: a shaft tube; a ferrule unit supported by the shaft tube; a lead holding unit having a chuck configured to relatively move with respect to the ferrule unit to eject lead held by the same; and an indication body provided movably in an axial direction. The indication body delimits from rearward a lead storage space formed rearward the chuck in the shaft tube. The indication body located at least at a predetermined position is viewable from outside the shaft tube. A length along the axial direction between a rear end of the lead storage space and a front end of the ferrule unit, in a state where the indication body has moved most rearward along the axial direction, is equal to or more than twice a length of spare lead to be stored in the lead storage space.

Abstract
Provided is a retractable writing instrument with which a stable writing feel is obtained by preventing any unwanted movement of the tip while writing, and little risk of unsatisfactory operation is presented. The present invention comprises: a barrel having an opening at the front end; a tip holder that can move in the axial direction of the barrel; a tip that can retract or extend along with the movement of the tip holder; an annular member that is loosely fitted in the inner periphery of the opening of the barrel and is capable of moving in the axial direction; and an elastic member that can connect the tip holder and the annular member so as to allow relative movement therebetween. A tapered contact surface is formed toward the front end in at least part of the outer periphery of the annular member, and a notch is formed in the part of the annular member, the inner diameter of the annular member decreasing when the contact surface is subjected to a load. A tapered guide surface is formed toward the front end in a part of the inner surface of the barrel, the contact surface being subjected to the load from the guide surface along with movement toward the front-end side of the tip holder.
