Abstract

The present invention relates to a flat gasket which is to tightly connect two housing parts, which form a housing, to each other with the interposition of the flat gasket. The flat gasket is intended to ensure that medium from the housing does not pass to the outside or medium, such as water, does not pass from the outside into the housing. To achieve the sealing, the flat gasket is elastically deformed between sealing webs of the housing parts when the two housing parts are screwed together at screw connection points. It has been shown that a reliable seal is not always ensured over the length of the flat gasket. Regions occur in which the elastic deformation of the flat gasket between the housing parts is not sufficiently high or elastic deformation of the flat gasket does not occur at all. This has the result that there is insufficient sealing in these regions, and therefore corresponding medium can pass from the inside to the outside or from the outside to the inside. The embodiment of the flat gasket can be described having a main body (8), which is provided on at least one, preferably on both outer sides (9, 10), with protruding ribs (16, 19, 21, 22, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 33) which are provided over the circumference of the flat gasket (3) and form a profile structure (15).

Abstract

A radial shaft seal has an elastomeric sealing lip with an inner side facing a shaft to be sealed. The sealing lip has a first circumferential ring arranged at the inner side and resting against the shaft to seal a medium side from an air side. Return conveying elements are arranged circumferentially about the sealing lip at the inner side and at a side of the first circumferential ring facing the air side. They return leakage medium, independent of a rotational direction of the shaft, to the medium side. A second circumferential ring at the inner side is positioned at a side of the return conveying elements facing the air side. The first circumferential ring is an elevation with depressions, also formed as elevations, distributed circumferentially thereabout. The depressions extend toward the second circumferential ring and are positioned, respectively, between two of the return conveying elements neighboring each other.

Abstract

The invention relates to a shaft seal having a rotationally fixed sealing unit (1, 2), which has at least one support (3, 12), to which at least one sealing element (9, 20) provided with a sealing part (11, 21) is fastened. The shaft seal has a second sealing unit (1, 2) that is to be rotationally fixed to a shaft (7) and that has at least one sealing element (9, 20). The at least one sealing element is fastened to a support (3, 12) and has a sealing part (11, 21). At least one of the sealing parts (11, 21) of the two sealing units (1, 2) contacts the sealing part (11, 21) of the respective other sealing unit (1, 2) under elastic pre-tension. Since the sealing part (11, 21) does not contact the shaft (7) in a sealing manner, only very low friction occurs on the sealing part (11, 21). The frictional power losses are consequently low.

Abstract

The invention relates to a radial shaft seal having a sealing element, which has a sealing lip (6), which, in a sealing position, lies on a rotatably driven machine part (7) to be sealed. In order to keep the friction losses low, the sealing lip (6) is surrounded by at least two centrifugal force elements (13), which are held on at least one carrier (8) connected to the machine part (7) for conjoint rotation and which load the sealing lip (6) radially in the sealing position when the machine part (7) is at rest and relieve the sealing lip when the machine part (7) is rotating. In the method for sealing a rotating machine part (7) by means of a radial shaft seal, the sealing lip (6) is pressed against the machine part (7) by the centrifugal force elements (13) when the machine part (7) is at rest and, at an idling rotational speed of the machine part (7) at the latest, the centrifugal force elements (13) are moved outward so far that the sealing lip (6) lies against the rotating machine part (7) with at least reduced force.

Abstract

The axial face seal has a slide ring (6), which is in contact with a counter ring (7) under spring force, forming a sealing gap (30), and together with the counter ring (7) borders an annular space (8) on the outside radially. It is situated between the sliding partners (6, 7) and a machine element to be sealed. A receiving space (31) is provided on the side facing away from the slide ring (6) in front of the counter ring (7). Due to the high operating temperatures, deposits of the oil-gas sealing mixture occur in the area around the sealing gap (30), leading to increased leakage of the oil-gas sealing mixture during the cooling phase when the compressor is at a standstill. In order to minimize leakage when the unit is shut down, the receiving space (31) is sealed with respect to the annular space (8). Therefore, the coal deposits from the annular space (8) are removed toward the outside and do not enter the receiving space (31). The axial face seal is used with CO2 compressors in particular.
