Abstract

Provided is a cutter for processing wood or paper, the cutter having high wear resistance and excellent durability. The cutter has a base metal and a blade tip formed as a clad layer integrated on the base metal by melting a metal material, which contains, by mass, at least 10% of V, at least 5% of Cr, and at least 50% of Fe, using a laser beam while supplying the metal material onto the base metal. It was found that the material exhibits a high level of durability against both abrasive wear and corrosion wear. That is, the incorporation of Cr reduces corrosion wear, and the incorporation of V reduces abrasive wear. In addition, it was found that the clad layer formed by laser cladding has less thermal impact on the base metal as compared to general brazing or the like and can achieve strong joint strength.

Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a cutting insert having improved durability. A cutting insert according to the present invention that solves said problem has a main cutting edge 11a and a rake cutting edge 11b, both of which are made of CBN. A rake surface 1121 of the rake cutting edge 11b has formed thereon a chamfered surface 1124 that is formed so as to reach the main cutting edge 11a and have a smooth-treated surface at least in the vicinity of the main cutting edge 11a. The smooth-treated chamfered surface eliminates areas of stress concentration and enables preventing chipping or the like, and thereby improves durability. Also, it is preferable to form the main-cutting-edge side of the chamfered surface in a protruding round shape. Forming the main-cutting-edge side in a protruding round shape makes it possible to exhibit an effect equivalent to providing a chamfered surface without forming a ridge.

Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a wood-cutting cutter which is used for the cutting processing of a woody material and that can be easily reground. The wood-cutting cutter has a hardened layer provided on a surface of a cutting blade thereof, the hardened layer comprising a base material that has been modified by nitriding or carburizing. The surface hardness of a blade portion is more than 40 HRC. The wood-cutting cutter is formed of tool steel. The hardened layer formed on the surface by nitriding or carburizing is integrally formed with the base material, and is therefore less likely to experience damages that occur independently due to regrinding, such as delamination, unlike in the case of a coating layer.

Abstract

A long metal sheet is rolled in a width direction to form a hollow tube while being delivered. A seam appeared in a longitudinal direction of a tubular body is electrically welded to form an electric-resistance-welded tube. The electric-resistance-welded tube is cut in a predetermined size by a circular saw cutting machine which travels in synchronicity with the electric-resistance-welded tube during its production process. A weld bead remains at the seam of the electric-resistance-welded tube so that the weld bead remained in the tube may be involved when the electric-resistance-welded tube is cut by the circular saw blade. Therefore, there is a problem to be solved that a significant load may be generated on a second rake face of the tip when the cutting tip of the circular saw blade bites debris in the tube, which may lead to the chipping or missing of the tips. Abstract

Provided is a disk-shaped rotating tool in which cutting vibration and cutting noise are less likely to occur than conventional technology. This disk-shaped rotating tool has: a base metal 10 in which one or more slits 15 penetrating the front and rear surfaces are formed; and a large number of teeth 20 provided on the outer circumference of the base metal 10 so as to protrude radially outward, wherein the slit 15 is folded back one or more times and defines a finger piece having a thick tip shape, and the length of the finger piece is at least three times the average value of the width of the root and the width of the widest portion. By defining the finger piece by the slit 15 and making the shape of the finger piece a thick tip shape, it is possible to effectively suppress the occurrence of cutting vibration and cutting noise. It is preferable that at least one among the slits 15 be repeatedly folded back four or more times to define four or more finger pieces. In this case, the finger pieces are defined such that the orientations thereof are alternately switched. It is also preferable that the angle formed by both lateral lines of the finger piece is 1° or greater.

Abstract

For this dimple machining method, a rotary cutting tool (1) equipped with one or more cutting edges (5) that protrude in radial directions of a rod-like body (3) is prepared. In a member on which an outer circumference (33) of a plunger tip (30) slides with respect to an inner circumference of an injection sleeve, either the inner circumference of the injection sleeve or the outer circumference (33) of the plunger tip (30) is used as a machining surface. While causing the rotary cutting tool (1) to rotate about the shaft center (3a) of the rod-like body, either the injection sleeve or the plunger tip (30) is relatively fed so as to cause the rotary cutting tool (1) to move along the machining surface. One dimple (34) is formed in the machining surface by a single round of cutting performed by one of the cutting edges (5).

Abstract

A tipped saw blade includes a disc-shaped base metal and a plurality of tips. Each tip has an edge selected from a flat edge, a left beveled edge, and a right beveled edge. The tips are positioned circumferentially adjacent each other about a radially outer periphery of the base metal. Each flat edge includes a cutting edge that is oriented parallel to a thickness direction of the base metal. Each left beveled edge and each right beveled edge include a corresponding cutting edge that is inclined with respect to the thickness direction of the base metal. Cutting edge line lengths correspond to the lengths at which the cutting edges come in contact with a workpiece when cutting a workpiece. The cutting edges have the following relationship: (sum of cutting edge line lengths of the plurality of beveled edges)≤[((cutting edge line length of one of the flat edges)−(kerf thickness+1.5))×(number of the plurality of flat edges)×1.2].

Abstract

In a dimple processing method for forming dimples on a curved surface of a workpiece, a cutting tool having a cutting edge on a rod-shaped body is rotated about a central axis of the cutting tool. The workpiece is rotated about a first axis. The cutting tool or the workpiece moves on a virtual plane through which the first axis passes or on a plane parallel to the virtual plane. The cutting tool or the workpiece moves such that the tip end of the cutting tool follows the curved surface of the workpiece. The cutting edge forms one or more dimple on the curved surface each time the cutting tool rotates.

Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem to be solved of providing a rotary cutting tool that has a cutting blade having a twist angle, and that can be more easily manufactured than conventional cutting tools. The present invention comprises: a chip 20 in which a cutting blade E, that is a ridge line of at least a rake face and a flank face, is formed from a hard sintered body containing diamond and/or cubic boron nitride; and a body 10 in which the chip 20 is joined to a seat back surface 111. The seat back surface 111 is inclined with respect to the axial center Ax in the plane, has the rake face and the flank face formed therein as curved surfaces, and has a prescribed flank angle, a prescribed rake angle, and a prescribed twist angle. In particular, when the plane vertical to the seat back surface 111 and including the axial center Ax is viewed in the vertical direction, it is preferable for one end of the seat back surface 111 joined with the chip 20 to be positioned further to the front in the rotation direction of the rotary cutting tool than the axial center Ax, and the rear end of the seat back surface 111 is positioned further to the rear in the rotation direction of the rotary cutting tool than the axial center Ax. Conventional rotary cutting tools have both ends of the seat back surface positioned further to the rear in the rotation direction than the axial center Ax.

Abstract

An electric-resistance welded pipe, in which a long metal sheet is made round in the width direction while being extended to form a hollow pipe and in which a seam produced along the longitudinal direction of the pipe body is electrically welded, is cut to prescribed dimensions by a circular saw cutter that travels synchronously during steps for manufacturing the electric-resistance welded pipe. A welding bead part remains at the seam of the electric-resistance welded pipe, and the welding bead part remaining inside the pipe ends up being entrained when the electric-resistance welded pipe is cut by a circular saw blade. The present invention therefore addresses the problem that a large load is applied to a second relief surface of a cutting tip of a circular saw blade and tip breakage/loss occurs when the cutting tip bites into the fragments inside the pipe. A circular saw blade in which numerous cutting tips 10 are joined along the outer circumference of a base metal, wherein: the circular saw blade is formed from a first relief surface 14 positioned forward in the rotation direction of the circular saw blade, a flank surface 18 positioned in the outer-circumferential direction of the circular saw blade, and a second relief surface 22 that is adjacent to the circular-saw-blade axial-center side of the first relief surface 14; and the second relief surface 22 is configured so that the center thereof protrudes in the rotation direction of the circular saw blade.

Abstract

This tip saw has a circular disc-shaped base metal, and a plurality of first through ninth tips (11)-(19) that are bonded to the outer circumference of the base metal and are configured from a plurality of flat edges, a plurality of left-tilted edges, and a plurality of right-tilted edges. The flat edges comprise cutting edges (21c) that are horizontal with regard to the thickness direction of the base metal. The left-tilted edges and the right-tilted edges comprise cutting edges (22c, 23c) that are tilted with regard to the thickness direction of the base metal. When cutting a work material (40), the lengths where the cutting edges (21c)-(23c) contact the work material (40) are cutting edge line lengths (31a)-(39a). Presuming that the feed rate per edge is 0 mm/edge, that the flat edges cut the work material (40) first, and that the tilted edges cut the work material (40) immediately after the flat edges do, the following relationship is satisfied: sum of the cutting edge line lengths (32a)-(39a) of the plurality of tilted edges ≤ (cutting edge line length 31a per flat edge – edge width T + 1.5) × number of flat edges (21) × 1.2.

Abstract

An end mill having a plurality of cutting edges on a surface of a rod-shaped main body is rotated about its longitudinal axis and is moved relative to a workpiece in a feed direction tangential and orthogonal to the longitudinal axis along the workpiece. The end mill is also moved relative to the workpiece in a reciprocal manner in the axial direction while it is moved in the feed direction. In this way, a plurality of dimples are formed by the end mill on the workpiece, such that the dimples are relatively spaced apart from each other on the workpiece. The plurality of dimples are arranged side by side in the feed direction along a line inclined at a predetermined angle relative to the feed direction so as to be offset while partially overlapping with respect to each other in the axial direction.

Abstract

With regard to multiple cutting tips bonded on the periphery of a circular saw base metal, it is possible to reduce noise when cutting a workpiece by varying the pitch between adjacent tips. However, there was the problem that depending on the pitch of the cutting tips, said tips could not be polished with an automated polishing machine. [Solution] Provided is a circular saw (10) obtained by bonding the required number of cutting tips (14) on the periphery of a base metal (12), said circular saw being configured so that: a large number of cutting tips (14) are provided as at least two tip groups (A, B, …) arrayed on the periphery of the circular saw (10); the pitch of each tip group (A, B, …) is set to be the same except for the pitch between the last tip (Am, Bn, …) and the first tip (A1, B1, …); and the pitch of at least one of the at-least-two tip groups (A, B, …) is made to differ from the pitch of the other tip group(s) (A, B, …).

Abstract

[Problem] With blades for cutting or machining aluminum-based workpieces having aluminum or an aluminum alloy as a starting material, since the melting point of aluminum-based workpieces is lower than that of other iron-based workpieces, in some cases high temperature frictional heat generated during processing causes aluminum shavings to melt and become fused to a base portion of the blade. If aluminum fusion marks are left on the blade, in some cases a smooth cut surface of the aluminum-based workpiece is not achieved, necessitating post-processing such as correction by machining, for example, and the blade may break, developing into a situation in which the operation of the machining device is stopped. [Solution] Aluminum shavings generated during machining are prevented from fusing to the blade by forming layers of a phosphate film 16 and a fatty acid salt film 18 on a base portion 12 of a blade specialized for machining an aluminum-based workpiece.

Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a cutting tool material manufacturing method that is capable of manufacturing a cutting tool achieving both corrosion resistance and high hardness. This problem was found to be solved by forming a cutting edge through a combination of laser build-up welding with use of martensitic stainless steel. Specifically, using the laser build-up welding with metal particles being used as raw material was found to facilitate preparation of an alloy component/alloy tissue which satisfies wear resistance and toughness required of the cutting edge while maintaining corrosion resistance equivalent to stainless steel. In other words, the method for manufacturing a cutting tool material according to the present invention which solves the above problem has a cutting edge forming step for forming a cutting edge made of the martensitic stainless steel by carrying out, at least one time, a laser build-up welding step in which an iron metal particle material made of martensitic stainless steel is supplied to the surface of a body material and the body material and a built-up layer made of the iron metal particle material are integrated by means of a laser beam.

Abstract

A circular saw blade to cut electric resistance welded pipes in the electric resistance welded pipe production line experiences an excessive load on hard tips thereof because of the limited cutting time, which results in reduced durability and chipping. [Solution] A flank 18 is provided with a first flank 20 located at the center thereof, and second and third flanks 22, 24 located inclined toward the respective sides of the first flank 20. Therefore, the lateral sides of the flank 18 have a constant clearance angle rearward from a cutting edge 34, which provides advantages of increased strength and resistance to chipping. Furthermore, a fourth flank 26 having a larger clearance angle is separately provided at the rear of the first flank 20 located at the center. Even if the first flank 20 wears, it is possible to reduce the wear on the fourth flank 26 and improve the durability.

Abstract

[Problem] Circular saw blades which cut a seam-welded pipe while traveling in synchronization with the traveling speed of the seam-welded pipe and which go around the seam-welded pipe in a seam-welded pipe production line, have an excessive load put on hard tips thereof because of the limited cutting time, resulting in reduced durability and the possibility of chipping. [Solution] A flank 18 is provided with: a first flank 20 located at the center thereof; and second and third flanks 22, 24 located inclined toward each side of the first flank 20. Thus, the vicinity of the lateral sides of the flank 18 has a constant relief angle toward the rear from a cutting edge ridge 34, thereby providing the advantages of an increase in strength and resistance to chipping. Furthermore, a fourth flank 26 having a larger relief angle is separately provided at the rear of the first flank 20 located at the center. Abstract

Provided is a cutting blade, with which it is possible to improve flexural ridigity while reducing the thickness of the blade, thereby reducing the quantity of blade material used. The blade is an approximately 0.5 mm thick, nearly rectangular, elongated, plastically deformable thin plate, the base material of which comprises steel, a super hard alloy, or a steel material whose cutting edge alone is made of a super hard alloy; blade costs are reduced on account of the ability to reduce the use of costly materials. The angle of relief from the flank face of the blade is 0 degrees. A rigid chromium nitride film coats the blade in a prescribed area that includes the cutting edge of the cutting face. The blade is mounted to the mounting groove on the tool body, bent in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation. By reason of the twist angle of both edge surface sides of the blade being positive and negative, the depth of the blade is secured in a circumferential direction, and the bending rigidity of the blade will be improved over the bending rigidity of a blade that is not bent.

Abstract

Provided is a rotary cutting tool with which it is possible to increase the flexural rigidity of an entire blade, even if the blade is thin. A cutter head for woodwork is provided with attachment grooves at four locations along the outer perimeter of a main body in the circumferential direction. The attachment grooves are slightly curved outward in the direction opposite from the rotary direction of the main body, and opposing sides of the main body are symmetrical in shape. A blade and a pressing fitting are mounted to each attachment groove. The blades are made of steel or cemented carbide, and are elastically deformable long, thin plates having a substantially rectangular shape with a thickness of approximately 0.5 mm. These blades are fixed so as to curve in an arc shape in the direction opposite from the rotary direction (R) and match the shape of the attachment groove. A twist angle, which is the inclination angle of the outer circumferential surface of the main body of the cutting blade with respect to the mandrel, is a negative twist angle that varies in curve at one end surface side of the main body, and is a positive twist angle that varies in curve at the other end surface side.

Abstract

A finger joint cutter exhibiting good cutting precision by suppressing occurrence of blow out or lip out. The finger joint cutter has a plurality of blade array groups (44a-44d) each consisting of a plurality of cutting blades (14) arranged at a predetermined pitch L in the direction R of the axis of rotation and cuts a joint finger by making the cutting blades (14) cut simultaneously into the end of a material to be cut. The cutting blade (14) is constituted of any one of a main blade (46) or an auxiliary blade (48). The face (50) of the main blade (46) is tapered to become thinner toward the outer diameter side. The width dimension l1 on the face (54) of the auxiliary blade (48) in the direction R of the axis of rotation is set smaller than the width dimension l2 on the face (50) of the main blade (46) in the direction R of the axis of rotation. The pitch L is set above the width dimension l2 of the main blade (46). Furthermore, the main blade (46) is provided such that it adjoins the auxiliary blade (48) in the direction R of the axis of rotation but the main blades (46) do not adjoin each other in the direction R of the axis of rotation.

Abstract

A plate-like cutting tool produced at low cost and having less strain. A planer blade is made up essentially of a base (12) constructed from a steel material and cutting blades (14, 14) laser welded to the base (12), along opposite end edges (12a, 12b) located in the longitudinal direction of the base (12). In the back side (18) of the base (12) is a recess (22) engageable with an engagement section (24a) of a base supporting section (24) of a fixing jig (20). In the process of producing the planer blade, the base (12) is fixed on the base supporting section (22) while being engaged with the engagement section (24a) and then clamped and fixed in a pressing manner by a first base fixing tool (36). Also, a cutting blade (14) is made to be in contact with and fixed to the end edge (12a) through a cutting blade fixing tool (46). After that, the cutting blade (14) is fixed to the base (12) at the contact section between the end edge (12a) and the cutting blade (14) by laser welding mainly applied the base (12) side.
