Abstract

Methods for automatically buffering and displaying video feeds associated with a live event are described. The video feeds displayed on the mobile device may comprise live video feeds or replays associated with the live event. A replay may comprise a playback of one or more buffered video feeds in a particular sequence and at a particular playback rate. The particular sequence may be determined based on the viewing behavior of the end user of the mobile device and/or the viewing behaviors of one or more other end users using other mobile devices at the live event. In some cases, the replay may comprise a shared replay in which a group of end users attending the live event may interact with each other while sharing a common replay.

Abstract

A method for automatically buffering and displaying video feeds orginating from several cameras associated with a live event is described. The video feeds are displayed on a mobile device and may comprise live video feeds or replays. A video feed to be displayed is determined by selecting a target camera and by choosing between a live video feed and a replay video feed. The target camera is determined based on a physical gesture which includes to point the mobile device in a particular direction. The choice between a live video feed and a replay video feed is based on an event state associated with the live event, i.e., a break in action at the live event or a stopping of a game clock associated with the live event.

Abstract

A handheld device receives a wireless RF transmission that includes multiple video streams and buffers all video streams or selected video streams based on an identification of video streams to buffer. The device might also buffer all or selected audio streams or other real-time data content that is received in the wireless RF transmission. The wireless RF transmission may include a set of video streams (and/or audio streams, and/or other real-timed data) for the handheld device to buffer. A head end that sends the RF transmission may determine which streams to buffer based on operator input, user preferences, and other factors. Alternatively, the handheld device may automatically determine which streams to buffer based on information such as user preferences and information in the RF transmission. Alternatively, a user may select which streams to buffer.

Abstract

Method for enhancing the experience of a spectator attending a venue hosting a live sporting event. The method includes receiving locally of the venue a signal containing a plurality of video streams. At least one of the video streams is derived from a camera filming the live sporting event attended by the spectator and at least one of the video streams is derived from a camera filming a second live sporting event that is hosted at a second venue remote from the first venue. The method also includes using the signal to generate a wireless RF transmission locally of the first venue to allow the spectator to receive the wireless RF transmission with a handheld electronic device having a user interface, allowing the spectator to select a video stream among the plurality of video stream for display on the handheld electronic device.
