Abstract

The gearbox lock mechanism for a post bole auger has a collar coupled to a lower end of a right angle gearbox, the collar rotatable upon operation of the gearbox. The collar comprises a semi-circular outer edge and a fiat side. A male-threaded nipple extends from the collar and threads onto the auger shaft. A lock bar is coupled to the gearbox and acts as a positive lock to lock the collar in place for removal of the shaft from the gearbox. The lock bar is rotatable from a locked position whereby the lock bar is aligned with and contactable with the flat side of the outer edge of the collar, to an unlocked position whereby the lock bar does not contact the flat side of the outer edge of the collar.

Abstract

A track scraper for removing rubber from a racetrack is provided. The scraper comprises rotating blades that are moved along the surface of the track and that skim off portions of rubber that has been deposited on the track by race cars. The scraper is installed on and powered by a standard garden tractor.

Abstract

A rotary mower has a lift frame comprising swiveling linkages that allow rotation of the deck with respect to a three point hitch. The lift frame further has a pair of angled legs rotatably affixed to the lift frame, each angled leg having an upper end and a lower end, the lower ends rotatably affixed to pivot brace brackets rigidly affixed to the deck. Each angled leg of the lift frame is rotatably affixed to one or more pivot bars near the upper end of the angled leg. Each pivot bar extends upwardly between the angled leg and an upper end of the lift frame. A shield covers the pivot bars to protect the users.

Abstract

A post hole digger couples to the power take-off (PTO) shaft of a tractor and uses rotation from the PTO shaft to rotate an auger. A top support arm rotatably coupled to the top pin of the tractor's three point hitch supports the gearbox that translates rotation to the auger. A support frame extends upwardly from the right and left lift arms of the three point hitch and inwardly to support the top support arm from beneath. The support frame is shaped generally as an inverted “U,” with space created between the right and left lift arms to prevent interference with the rotating shaft that translates rotation from the PTO shaft to the gearbox. A shield coupled to the gearbox covers the moving parts of the joint between the rotating shaft and the gearbox and protects users during use of the auger.

Abstract

An auger for digging holes in soil is coupled to a gearbox and powered by the power take-off of a tractor. The auger comprises a shaft with a cutting head disposed near its bottom end. The cutting head comprises a plurality of cutting (i.e. digging) blades that cut into soil. Flighting disposed above the cutting head moves and lightens soil, but the flighting does not extend far above the cutting head.
