Abstract

An integrated energy management system (CEMS) in the context of an intermodal road-railway transport system comprising one or more trains (TR), wherein each train (TR) is provided with train batteries (54), a railway contact line supply (16), and a plurality of load units (20) loaded onboard the train (TR). The load units (20) are selected from electric or hybrid plug- in vehicles complete with a propulsion and energy storage system and all the intermodal transport units (ITUs) which are provided with an electrical system which comprises energy storage systems, i.e., containers, swap bodies, electrified semi-trailers (e-trailers), and conventional semi-trailers. Each load unit (20) is provided with an energy storage system (44), and during the permanence of each load unit (20) on the train (TR), the electrical power and storage systems (44) of such load units (20) and of the train (TR) are connected by means of connectors (42) and exchange energy flows therebetween in a bidirectional manner. The electrical system of the train (TR), in turn, exchanges bidirectional energy flows with the electrical system of the railway power supply line (16) and, through the latter, with other trains with or without energy storage, and, in turn, exchanges bidirectional energy flows with the regulation and power systems of the electrical system for energy production, storage, and transmission, thus achieving, in a bidirectional manner, a regulation of the electrical power and of the energy storage on three subsystem levels. The subsystem levels comprise the load units (20) and the train (TR), the railway electrical system through the railway contact line (16), and the electrical system for energy production, storage, and transmission. The train (TR) comprises at least one system control and regulation module (30,30m) by means of which a first on-board mobile smart grid (01 ) is obtained. Moreover, each load unit (20) is provided with an interface and control system module (60) responsible for the local or remote acquisition of the settings of the type of load unit (20), of other types of control and of the desired charge levels upon unloading (SC) for such a load unit (20). There is also a system smart-grid (02) which comprises the first on-board smart-grid (01 ), the regulation and power systems of the railway electrical system, and the regulation and power systems of the electrical system for energy production, storage, and transmission. The load units (20) comprise a first type (UCE) of vehicles or means of goods containment provided with an energy storage system (BLICE), in which the power supply is vital and non-interruptible, a second type (BEV) of vehicles or means of goods containment provided with an energy storage system (BE) with self-propulsion in which at least a minimum charge (SC) is to be ensured upon arrival at the destination station, and a third type (DCS) of vehicles or means of goods containment provided with an energy storage system (BUGS) comprising all the vehicles or means without self¬ propulsion and having no need for vital power supply. The system control and regulation module (30,30m) aims to ensure, upon unloading, the charge level requested by the users and it participates in the management the system smart-grid (02).

Abstract

An integrated mobility system includes at least one road module, at least one railway module adapted to contain a plurality of road modules therein, and a plurality of loading/unloading infrastructures arranged in a plurality of boarding and unboarding stations scattered over a territory to allow operations for boarding/unboarding the road modules from the railway module. The railway module can be a two-story high-speed railway module. The boarding/unboarding stations are equipped with the loading/unloading infrastructures arranged so that the operations for boarding/unboarding the road module with respect to the railway module are always possible regardless of the position occupied by the road module inside the railway module, and regardless of simultaneous boarding and unboarding of other road modules. The road module and the railway module are arranged to be automatically interconnected to each other in the condition in which the road module is received inside the railway module.
