Abstract
A method for computer-aided sheet running control in a sheet-fed printing machine includes, during a printing operation, using a measuring sensor to detect a printed sheet in the printing machine and using an activation sensor to initiate measuring performed by the measuring sensor by emitting an activation signal. The activation sensor is mechanically fixedly installed without adjustment, and temporal deviations of the activation signal are determined and compensated. A system for computer-aided sheet running control in a sheet-fed printing machine is also provided.

Abstract
A method for cleaning a printing fluid off a surface of at least one rotatable component of a printing press includes selecting and executing one of a plurality of predefined cleaning operations in an automated way. The selection is made on the basis of a predefined mathematical model executed on a computer and, when the model is executed, a parameter corresponding to an amount of the printing fluid present on the surface is calculated. The improved cleaning method may be applied in all modes of operation of the printing press and in particular allows detergent, cleaning cloth, and/or water to be saved.

A method for cleaning an anilox printing unit includes a first process step and a second process step immediately following the first process step without any intermediate printing operation. In the first process step, printing ink is supplied to a screen roller from a blade-type ink fountain while an ink applicator roller is in contact with the screen roller and out of contact with a bridge roller of a dampening unit. In the second process step, printing ink is removed from the screen roller and returned into the same blade-type ink fountain while the ink applicator roller is engaged with the screen roller and with the bridge roller.

Abstract
A method controls a printing speed and a temperature of a printing press to attain a predetermined actuating variable. The printing press includes a control computer. The method is characterized by calculating a target temperature to attain the predetermined actuating variable at a desired printing speed and initiating the adjustment operations to attain the target temperature by the control computer. The actual printing speed is changed via a first acceleration within a tolerance limit with respect to fluctuations about the predetermined actuating variable. The first acceleration process is stopped if the desired printing speed is attained in the process. The first acceleration is changed if the tolerance limits are reached and the desired printing speed has not been attained yet. The printing speed is ran at a modified second acceleration along the tolerance limits until the desired printing speed is attained.

Abstract
A method for controlling an amount of dampening solution in a printing unit of a printing press using a computer and a measuring device, includes setting an amount of dampening solution in the printing unit based on data of a current print job, reducing the amount of dampening solution towards a smearing threshold with the computer, recording color measurement values with the measuring device in at least one full tone area with low area coverage and in at least one halftone area with high area coverage on a printing material of the current print job, and stopping the reduction of the amount of dampening solution with the computer when a dot gain of the halftone in areas with high area coverage increases significantly and a density of the full tone in areas with low area coverage increases significantly.

Abstract
A printing press includes an anilox printing unit having a screen roller and a feed blade as components, in which ink accumulates on an outer side of the feed blade during printing. A method for operating the anilox printing unit includes removing the accumulated ink from the feed blade by moving one of the two components relative to the other of the two components in a first direction in a first step, causing the accumulated ink to be flattened by the feed blade and to be spread onto the screen roller. The component that was moved in the first direction in the first step may be moved in an opposite, second direction in a second step, causing the accumulated ink to be scraped off the screen roller by the feed blade.

Abstract
A method of operating a sheet-fed printing press includes storing various print jobs and/or associated setting values and process steps in a memory device to set up the printing press upon a job change. A computer implements or suggests settings or process steps of the printing press for a print job based on the job data of a print job and/or as a result of inputs by the operator. Before or immediately after a print job is completed, the computer generates a query requesting inputs that determine if the same print job requires further passes and if so, which passes are required and, based on the information input therein, implements only those settings on the printing press and/or initiates or suggests only those process steps that are necessary for the subsequent pass of the sheets that have already been printed.

A printing press includes a roller having a first antifriction bearing and a second antifriction bearing. The first antifriction bearing has rolling bodies, a first ring and a second ring. One of the two rings forms an outer ring and the other of the two rings forms an inner ring. Roller sockets are configured as quick action changing devices for receiving the anti-friction bearings during insertion of the roller into the printing press. The first antifriction bearing is configured as an axial floating bearing with a considerable axial movement play of the rolling bodies between the latter and one of the rings. The second antifriction bearing is configured as an axial locating bearing without such a considerable axial movement play. A centering device centers one of the rings relative to the other.

Abstract
A film transfer unit is provided on an inking unit of a printing unit. If such a film transfer unit includes an intermittent drive device having dancers then, as a result, access to an ink fountain or an inking unit is generally rather restricted. Adjustable guide elements of the intermittent drive device are provided in a frame of an intermittent drive module which can be pushed, in the form of a cassette, out of an opening of the film transfer unit when the film transfer unit is not to be used to transfer a transfer layer from a transfer film to a printing material, so that an installation space which has thus become free can be used to operate an ink fountain of the inking unit. A cassette for a film transfer apparatus and a method for operating a film transfer apparatus, are also provided.

Abstract
If a plurality of part film webs are each stored on different supply shafts, considerable effort is necessary to use a plurality of part film webs within one apparatus. If the part film webs are stored as a plurality of part film webs on a common supply shaft, various problems can arise. Preferably a plurality of part film webs can be used in an apparatus for the transfer of a transfer layer to a sheet. Ideally, the supply shaft and/or collecting shaft is/are constructed as a friction shaft, so that the transfer of the rotational movement of the friction shaft to the transfer film supply roll and/or transfer film collecting roll is carried out via a frictional connection between shaft and roll, which can be overcome by tensile forces of the transfer film web. Therefore, a plurality of transfer film rolls having different diameters are provided on the friction shaft.

Abstract
In a method for controlling the temperature of a press which has an applicator roller and a screen roller, the screen roller has its temperature controlled at different temperatures and the applicator roller has its temperature controlled at a constant temperature. In this manner, the choice of the screen roller temperatures can be set individually for each printing unit depending on the optical ink density values which the operator desires.
