Abstract

A wireless earphone comprises a transceiver circuit for receiving streaming audio from a data source over a local ad hoc wireless network. When the data source and the earphone are out of range, they transition automatically to an infrastructure wireless network. If there is no common infrastructure wireless network for both the data source and the speakerphone set, the earphone connects to a host server via an available wireless network.

Abstract

Apparatus comprises adapter and speaker system. Adapter is configured to plug into port of personal digital audio player. Speaker system is in communication with adapter, and comprises multiple acoustic transducers, programmable processor circuit, and wireless communication circuit. In first operational mode, processor circuit receives, via adapter, and processes digital audio content from personal digital audio player into which adapter is plugged, and the multiple acoustic transducers output the received audio content from the personal digital audio player. In second operational mode, wireless communication circuit receives digital audio content from a remote digital audio source over a wireless network, processor circuit processes the digital audio content received from remote digital audio source, and the multiple acoustic transducers output the audio content received from the remote digital audio source.

Abstract

Systems and methods permit a wireless audio output device to receive a content streaming preference that identifies a remote digital media content source. A mobile computing device transmits, wireless via an ad hoc wireless communication link, credential data for an infrastructure wireless network to the wireless audio output device. The wireless audio output device may then connect to a wireless access point via the infrastructure wireless network and receive the content streaming preference from a host server via the infrastructure network. Digital media content may then be streamed from the remote digital media content source according to the content streaming preference.

Abstract

A personal acoustic system and flexible mount for the same are disclosed. The flexible mount is comprised of an elastomeric material. The personal acoustic system further includes a band comprising a first mount and an earpiece comprising a second mount. An acoustic element is housed within the earpiece. The elastomeric mount is positioned intermediate the first mount and the second mount to flexibly connect the band to the earpiece.

Abstract

Systems and method enable a wireless media player to receive data wireless via an infrastructure wireless network. In a first operational mode, the wireless media player may play digital media content stored on a digital media device via an ad hoc wireless connection with a remote wireless communication device. The remote wireless communication device may also transmit credential data for the infrastructure wireless network to the wireless media player via the ad hoc wireless network. Abstract

Wireless-enabled loudspeaker includes a wooden capacitive touch user interface. The loudspeaker may comprise at least one electroacoustic transducer, a processor in communication with the at least one electroacoustic transducer, and a wooden exterior surface comprising a capacitive touch user interface that allows a user to control operation of the loudspeaker. The wooden exterior surface acts a dielectric for the capacitive touch user interface. The loudspeaker may comprise a wireless transceiver circuit for receiving and transmitting wireless communication signals via a wireless network. The wireless transceiver circuit may receive wirelessly audio content from streaming audio content servers that are connected to the Internet. The capacitive touch user interface comprises a plurality of user control icons etched in the wooden exterior surface, and a plurality of capacitive sense electrodes located under the wooden exterior surface.

Abstract

A wireless video camera that permits bookmarking of objects in the surrounding environment of the camera. When a remote user selects to see (via streaming video) a previously bookmarked object, the camera determines the appropriate camera viewing parameter to replicate the bookmarked view of the object. To account for an intervening change in position of the camera, the camera may compute any change in position of the camera, and adjust the camera viewing parameters for the bookmarked view to compensate for the camera's updated position so that the original bookmarked view of the object can be replicated. Also, in a streaming video mode where the camera is streaming video to the remote user, the remote user can use a still image from the camera to control the remote camera.

Abstract

Various embodiments are directed to systems and methods involving first and second acoustic speaker devices for synchronizing playback of a common audio playback signal by the first and second acoustic speaker devices. The first acoustic speaker device may transmit wirelessly a first message comprising a first checksum set comprising a plurality of checksums indicating units of the common audio playback signal in a playback queue of the first acoustic speaker device. The second acoustic speaker device may receive and compare the first checksum set to a second checksum set comprising a plurality of checksums indicating units of the common audio playback signal in a playback queue of the second acoustic speaker device. The presence or absence of a match between the first and second checksum sets, as well as an offset, if any, of the match may indicate which acoustic speaker device is behind and by how many units.

Abstract

Electroacoustical speaker devices that synchronously play audio received from a source. In one embodiment, one speaker acts as the master and the other speaker acts as the slave. The master speaker receives digital audio data from a source and, in addition to playing the digital audio received from the source, the master speaker retransmits the digital audio to the slave speaker. The master speaker additionally sends synchronization data to the slave speaker, such as data that indicates the buffer status or playback position of the master speaker. The slave speaker utilizes the synchronization data from the master speaker to adjust, for example, its buffer status or playback position, so that the two speakers play the audio synchronously (e.g., within thirty milliseconds). In one embodiment, the master speaker uses a connection-oriented protocol, such as TCP/IP, to transmit buffered audio data to the slave speaker and uses a connectionless protocol, such as UDP or ICMP, for the synchronization data. In addition, the speakers may transition roles as master and slave.

Abstract

A foldable headphone set in which the earphones of the headphone set may rotate between a folded (or closed) position and an unfolded (or open) position due to a torsion- or spring-loaded hinge associated with each earphone. The headphone set may be held in the folded position by way of a magnetic latch. Abstract

An adjustable, dual speaker element earphone is described. One of the speaker elements (the smaller one) is sized to fit into the cavum concha of the listener's ear and the other element (the larger one) is not. The positioning of the speaker elements may be adjustable so that the user can adjust the positioning of the speaker elements for increased comfort. A hinged joint may allow the larger speaker element may be rotated about a vertical axis of the hinged joint so that the larger speaker element can be rotated towards or away from the listener's ear. The smaller speaker element may be adjusted relative to the larger speaker element by a joint that provides multiple degrees of rotational freedom for the smaller speaker element relative to the larger speaker element.
